Not sure if he was the best I've ever seen, but he was special, no doubt. He had an intangible that can't be taught...he just had a nose for the football. He was around the ball all the time.
Manziel had a special talent, as well. he could extend plays until something good happened. It's not easy to do what he did while keeping his head and making a play.

I think it was an exaggeration to begin with; but keep holding onto to whatever you had for this thread.
Great. You choose the heroin addict crackhead over the fake weed smoker.
Got it.
ETA I forgot, JF has been sober since July 3rd, right?
Good for him

That's fine. And if you make your own rules about a thread you should follow them and not try and have the bias that you were trying to prevent in the first place.
I assume you are talking in general, since it's not my thread?
Time helps the modern athlete. There have been many, many great athletes, but media and proximity helps the modern player. They are freshest in our minds, while older players accomplishments fade. You know you have a special athlete when you are still considered great many years after the fact.
Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson
Billy Canon, Joe namath, etc
If they are still talking about Johnny Manziel and Tyrann Mathieu in 20-30 years you will have a better sense of their greatness, or lack of.
I was surprise at the lack of Patrick Peterson backers from LSU fans.

I should clarify I meant for LSU. Although he is still one of the best overall I have seen.
Regarding the Touchdowns, It is atleast 4. I can't remember if it was Reid or TM whose td was called back in the aggy Cotton Bowl beat down.
But despite the exaggeration, so many of the Badgers plays led to touchdowns regardless if he scored them himself.
Again, I have never seen a bigger playmaker on defense for LSU in my life.

Everyone backs PP7. That just shows you how great the Badger was with regards to LSU fans.

You guys watch them week in and week out. You would know much better than me. I just remember Tommy Casanova and some of those guys. It's so hard to compare players from different eras, though.
