I'm not saying they would have gotten it right, but that's what would've happened. Nearly every expert that weighed in on the situation believed that State would've been left out. I think (had we beaten y'all) we would've deserved to be in it no doubt, but they weren't going to leave an undefeated team or a 11-1 conference champion out.

So probably that one

I believe that officially rustles LSU fans more than even the split title in 03.

Probably Oregon in the MNC. Thought Dyer was down, only to see him get up and scramble for what would be the game winning FG and lose the title.

Coming back to beat #1 FSU 32-29 in 97. They would've been guaranteed a spot in the Orange and probably beaten Nebraska for the title. Another classic case of the prevent d preventing nothing.

Our win against Ole Miss last year had to be pretty bad.

Nothing Auburn did wrong but that game ended the year for Ole Miss

For Alabama... either the 2012 SECCG or the 2011 BCSCG in recent memory, and probably the 1979 Sugar Bowl (the goalline stand for an older one. We have had a lot of them though...

Seriously surprised no one mentioned the 2012 SECCG for Alabama over Georgia. UGA was 5 yards away from playing for their first national title in 32 years.

In no particular order for LSU:

Florida '97
Florida '07
Tennessee '01 SECCG
Bluegrass Miracle
Ole Miss '03
Arizona State '05
Alabama '11

This loss ripped out my heart like nothing else. The only other loss that comes close is '07 Arkansas.

I would have joined you in burning down whoever's house needed to be burned down if a 1 loss SEC school got left out over a team that was barely beating teams like Boston College and Florida towards the end of the season.

That was the hardest Ole Miss loss I've ever experienced in my life mostly due to the fact that Treadwell broke his leg on the one yard line to end our run.

That was the most traumatizing/ heartbreaking WAOM moment in history.

I stopped investing so much into OM football games after that one game.

There's no way an undefeated defending national champ (who played P5 teams in 12/13 of their games) was gonna get left out.

what we did to UGA who hasn't won a national title since the early 80s was just plain mean

Florida, Wake Forest, Virginia, Boston College, N.C. State, Syracuse and South Florida are over half of those "Power" 5 teams tho... Does that not matter?

State would have had wins against OM LSU Auburn A&M & Arkie with one loss to fellow playoff team Alabama.

That's not even comparable bro.

Sure it does. In many ways, LSU still has not recovered from it.

The best answer for Alabama is the 2012 SECCG.

2001 - Tennessee @Florida. The game was put off and was the last regular season game. UT was an underdog despite being fairly well ranked and UF was on their way to a BCS title game had they won. It was also the last game in the UT-UF Fulmer v. Spurrier series. He left UF after their bowl game.

2005 Miami vs LSU (40-3). That program has been in shambles since.
