Kind of disagree on this one. Colorado is in a tough spot location wise but the Pac XII still feels off.

Agree with all of this though, especially the Maryland/W. Virgina one

Yea - I think Colorado State is the school that they should take a chance on. I know everyone loves the idea of the Florida schools, but Colorado as a state is booming, Colorado State has pretty decent history at football and basketball and their new stadium will be fantastic.

I just don't know how good their fanbase is and what the realistic expectation for their growth would be.

Best choice in my eyes. It isn't a sexy pick up but it adds a state and NC State would be crazy to turn down.

Yea - I just always thought they felt right in the North, but they definitely feel much more "right" with the plains states teams (old Big 8).

Honestly, a conference with Colorado, Colorado State, Utah, BYU, New Mexico, Boise State, Air Force and maybe Fresno State would be interesting (basically the best of the old MWC/WAC plus Colorado). That'd be a fun league.

And yes, I have had a lot of practice at changing up conferences on NCAA 2014 (or whatever the last one was).

The energy surrounding a new stadium and conference might just give their fanbase a nice bump. I bet the buffs are completely flopping in Denver right now

I feel like they are a lot like A&M in that their fanbase, from what I know, fits the SEC profile. They are pretty rowdy, they love football and they despise being in the shadow of UNC and Duke.

I think they'd LOVE being in the SEC, specifically the football part of it. And they'd get to be one of the established basketball programs right off the bat, something they have to fight for in the ACC.

And they'd be THE SEC school in North Carolina (like A&M in Texas), and they'd rub that in everyone's faces the same way A&M does (and UNC would scoff at it the same way Texas does).

To be fair if roles were reversed and they spent some significant time in the PAC 10 instead of the Big 12. I would probably feel the opposite way.

I still last season would see Maryland/Purdue games on the ESPN up next ticker and be like WTF why is Maryland playing an OOC game in February?

Those old Maryland/Duke and Maryland/Carolina games were awesome. It's a shame that is all gone.

If we took ECU, unc and nc state fans would needlessly lose their shite. They wouldn't want to switch to the SEC in the first place, but having ECU go there would piss them off.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. It is an extremely smart move for them and they would most likely get a instant boost in recruiting. I can't speak for NC State fans but I got to think they hate the fact UNC cares more about Duke than them.

Yea - taking ECU would be pretty stupid. That isn't going to happen.

Big XII has to go BYU and I really think UCF.

UCF Pros:
It's Florida
Lax minimum entry
IT'S FLORIDA with damned good recruiting grounds.
They would get smoked initially *although they played a couple teams tough a few years back* but I think eventually they could put together a new program.

SEC:
NC State and Va Tech. Neither are my first choices but both seem doable.

Which makes them the obvious 11th team for the Big 12. The question is who is 12 and none of those attendance figures make it obvious. I think then you have to start looking at program revenues as a comparison.

Texas wouldn't want BYU to join the Big 12. Check out the last 3 meetings between the schools.

Its meaningless. Its all about television markets. Thats why I think BYU and Colorado State will get the invites.

I don't think it's entirely meaningless, but it certainly means a lot less than it used to.

It would kind of be deflating to be "getting" the Denver market 4 years after you lost it. I guess with BYU you get Salt Lake City.....I don't know how the rest of the heavily Mormon Rockies work in terms of TV deals. Would they also secure most of Wyoming and Idaho as well as Arizona/New Mexico?

UCF.

The problem with UCF is they are in the middle of UF and FSU country. Its a saturated market. No one in Orlando, much less Florida, watches UCF. If I could find the link the top 5 watched games in Orlando last year were all UF and FSU and UCF didnt even match those numbers nationally. I get the recruiting angle but UCF is actually in Florida and they went 0-12 last year vs AAC opponents. I just dont think they are going to ever get traction in a crowded market.
