From what I understand USCe has always loved their football, they've just had bad results. First with Lou and then with the HBC the school has shown they have the talent base to compete, and in the right situation thrive, in the SEC. With mounds of SEC cash laying around the Gamecock administration would be foolish to not swing for the fences with the next hire.

I'm worried Ray Tanner is going to botch this one. It's his first major hire.

I think it's a mixed bag. Urban Meyer, Kevin Sumlin, Gus Malzahn and Hugh Freeze all moved from mid-major conferences to the SEC and did pretty well, although the jury may still be out on Malzahn.
