Sounds like Auburn-Clemson MIGHT be in danger of cancellation/Game time change

Clemson probably has another 12 to 18 hours to decide whether to make changes to the kickoff time for the Auburn-Clemson game Saturday, I'm told. Kickoff is currently set for 7 p.m. ET. The impact of Hurricane Irma could change this, especially with the latest forecast tracking the storm up the Florida peninsula. Folks across Florida, Georgia and South Carolina will be heading north on the main arteries running through those states to evacuate and one has to wonder if playing a football game with 70,000-plus extra people on the road would only make things worse. As of right now, Clemson has not communicated to Auburn that anything has or will change and I'm told there is nothing new out of Clemson right now, either. But this is something to monitor. Also, something to consider, from the Post and Courier in South Carolina: "Gov. Henry McMaster said at a news conference Thursday that he expects to issue an evacuation order effective 10 a.m. Saturday. He did not officially make the order yet. McMaster said that during the evacuation Interstate 26 lanes will be reversed to from Charleston to Columbia."

No way they change the KO time. Hell I remember when Clemson played ND during the floods that hit SC.

Auburn could volunteer to have the game played in Auburn and only Auburn and then pitch a fit if any other scenario is mentioned...oh wait...

Would be nice if they changed the kickoff so we didn't have so many games at 7pm

No way a program would do that...

Jeebus, its schedule to hit south Florida on SUNDAY, why the hell would you cancel shite in South Carolina on SATURDAY.
Oh.
Wait.
Politician. I get it now.
Carry on.

Bro the important part is even bolded for people like you.
Here I'll post it for you again
It's supposed to be in SC on Monday. You think it's feasible to wait until the day before to issue an evacuation order?
Oh wait. You probably do.
Who am I kidding. You probably don't even know what feasible means

Um...so people can get out before the storm hits? I don't know if you understand how bad traffic can get during an evacuation. Putting that many people on the road going the same direction is hell. Typically, people don't wait until right as the storm is hitting to get the hell out of Dodge either.

The stupid thing won't hit that area till Monday afternoon for God's sake.

I believe the concern is the people evacuating from Florida will be traveling through SC and causing heavy traffic. 70K fans added to the mix would be problematic.

South Carolina will be evacuating it's coast Saturday in advance of the storm on Monday.
That is the issue people. It's not rocket science

Clemson is a fricking 1.5 hours on two-lane to Chattanooga

okay, two hours to Chattanooga

Clemson is 240 miles from the coast.
In this instance, I really do not see a reason to change the schedule.
Hotels are already booked around there for the game.
I don't think people from Florida will be headed to Clemson to evacuate.
No real issue here.

They could just move the game to the real Death Valley in Baton Rouge

Has to do with interstate traffic flow and closures

Let's just ignore everything that LSU tried to do the entire week leading up to the game. Every concern they had, suggesting to play at a different time, alternative venues were suggested, Florida repeatedly stated that the game would be played as scheduled in Gainesville. Then at the last possible minute they flat out cancelled.
How UF came out of this smelling like a rose is beyond me. There are multiple timelines published about the childish games that UF played. LINK

I get issues with the Interstate and people evacuating. It is just that Clemson is so far out of the mainstream traffic flow , that I don't see an issue here at all. If they were playing in CLT or CHS, then yes, I could see a reason to change or cx, but here I don't really see the rationale or what it is even gained by changing this game time or locale.
