Never getting back to where it was and just about everyone but their fans realize that.

Not really, but OK.

Belle may give you some insight for the younger folks in DaVille but here is an abbreviated history from and old guy.

A) There are 4 fans bases that travel in basketball and not only when winning
#1 Kentucky, the "blue mist" is well documented
#2 North Carolina
#3 Kansas
#4 Indiana

Ask any scalper and they can confirm this. TV networks know it too. They may put Duke on TV as a team you love to hate in basketball like Notre Dame in football but they do not sell well live. UCLA has a brand but does travel well, nor do many of the secondary elite basketball teams.

2) The history of Louisville and southern Indiana

Indiana and Kentucky are basketball states like Texas and Ohio are football states. For most of the history Louisville media covered UK first, IU second, and UL last. Some of the IU support has shifted to UL once they canned Bobby Knight but a big part has been TJ @ UL becoming best buddies with ESPN (and probably why Line Beards are now in the ACC). Even with all of this, both Louisville and southern Indiana still have strong IU presence. To say they are another Nebraska it too be unaware of the difference between the states.

Nebraska is a big brand in a small state while Indiana is a big brand in a big state with lots of local recruiting in a 250 mile radius. In addition they have big money donors like the mall operators who just dropped 25 million on IU. A bette comparison might be Notre Dame football where they can suck for 20 years and be right back in the hunt with a good season or two.

As for Mizzou getting the tan one not sure he is what you really need as most UK fans are happy to have him stay at IU if that helps. As for Marshall to IU, you need only know the leanings of a few key donors to tell if that rumor has fire and not some internet bobble head "wishing" it would happen because they hate Crean, and trust me their are plenty of those in Indiana right now.

Actually, it's a very apt comparison. Both are fading blue bloods who have unrealistic expectations.

It looks like Indiana fans are looking at Billy Donovan first. There does seem to be a consensus, however, that Crean will not be renewed and is gone. No mention of him going to Mizzou.

That would be true if Nebraska routinely produced top football players year in and year out. IU is in the middle of serious bball country. A coach could recruit the state and coach worth a damn and be in a pretty good spot. The comparison is that they both wear red, have history and second to none fan support, it ends there.

There is a major difference between LSU football and Indiana basketball. Indiana is one of the legitimate blue bloods of the sport.

Duke
UNC
UCLA
Kansas
Kentucky
Indiana

Those are your top tier college hoops blue bloods.

I was comparing levels of delusion, not their program prestige. IU/Bluebloods are head and shoulders above everyone else

Mentioned earlier a friend of mine is a donor, he says there is a contingent of IU boosters who are convinced Brad Stevens would leave BOS for the IU job

Same friend thinks that Alford would leave IU today if it meant securing the IU job

Baw, you better hope Crean takes the gig...because it will be like it was when Kim was hired.

Oh, I know. My buddy is a grad. Keeps saying Brad Stevens dream job is in Bloomington. That ship sailed when they hired Crean instead.

No one knows what this means. It's doubtful you do.

Leaving alone the obvious issues with the concept of serious poster, sometimes the easiest way to shut him up is to ask him a semi-serious question. Then he has nothin. You notice he didn't respond. Cause he dumb

Hate to tell you those two are not going to be better than the oldest brother that's at UCLA right now. At best the youngest one might be pretty good but he won't be as good as the oldest one

You never asked a question. You tried to be a smart arse with your responses. So ask a serious question regarding this topic and maybe I'll respond to you.
