Ummmmm....seriously? Mind naming 4-5 defenses Alabama has played this year that is as good as Ohio States?

I'll give you 2-3....but 4-5? Not seeing it.

Yeah I'm thinking,

Ole Miss
LSU
MSU
Maybe throw in Missouri but that is the absolute most.

In pure talent, irrespective of experience, I'd go with LSU the tOSU. But it's not far apart.

That Wisconsin game was impressive. It's hard to determine how much that game represents where tOSU is right now. As the most recent game, you have to give it weight. But it's hard for me to believe that the Buckeyes can just plug in a third string qb and be that good. We'll see soon enough.

That's kind of how I feel. The Wisky game was impressive for sure. I think what a lot of people took away was ok OSU can beat a 1 dimensional team and shut down the running game. What I really found the most impressive was that OSU did it without really stacking the box. The front 7 was dominant for the first time all year really. The DL was exploding off the ball and beating their 1 on 1s consistently.

As you said, you don't know if it was a 1 game thing, or the "light" has turned on for the team. We all know sometimes that can happen. I hope for that of course.

I guess LSU could be more talented, I don't know their roster as well obviously. I'm intrigued by the way Meyer has recruited the backend with corners and safeties

Great - However, Alabama is not a one dimensional team

D-Lines that compare to OSU

Missouri
LSU
Arkansas

D-Lines that are superior to OSU
Ole Miss
Miss St.

Overall OSU's D doesn't compare to playing LSU's D at home at night, or Ole Miss's at home at night, or Arkansas at home.

It'll probably compare similarly to what Miss St. brought to T-town with a better secondary worse LB's and a very similar D-line.

Unfortunately they bring shite for an offense. The beauty in playing in the SEC is we've seen how Alabama's offense has had to adjust to these different style of defenses week in week out.

OSU hasn't faced an offense as good or a defense as talented and deep as Bama's. Stop with the Oklahoma talk, you can't compare a team coming off a heart breaking loss with their season over, to a team in the playoffs with everything in front of them.

I'll be interested to see 2 things:

1. How Bama is the crowd? Legit home game like the SECCG, or do the Suckeyes get fans to Louisiana?

2. Cordale Jones- One trick pony?

If what Oregon fans are saying about flags is true, this really helps Ohio St. SEC officials allow teams to get away with egregious fouls. As for defenses, Bama's secondary is average at best. Can't speak for Ohio st's D, but anyone who can post shutouts in conference championships must be decent.

Player who makes or breaks game: Cordale Jones

LSU's D was as talented as any in the country this year, it just took some time to gel. There were 2 freshman DTs starting and that is a recipe for disaster in the SEC. They were also starting a human sieve at MLB for the first half of the season . Once those DTs grew up and Beckwith was inserted the unit was solid from top to bottom.

If you need evidence just look at the numbers from the first half of the season vs. the second half. It was a different team, defensively.

Fair. I thought it was at home. All I was saying is that good teams struggle against teams who are .500 or around it often. Battle through those games, win some big ones, and take your chances

after watching Bama get beat twice in teh sugar bowl against teams everyone said they would easily beat...I learned my lesson.

I think they'll win, and I hope it is big, but there are no guarantees.

Having said that...OSU's reg season schedule looks very cupcakey.

Finebaum has already called it the "biggest game in college football history".

Exactly. Everyone knows Finebaum will say absolutely anything to get his calls and clicks up. Dude's the biggest troll in the game.

Having seen them a couple of times against worthy opponents, they do have a talented defense. Personally I'd rate them behind OM, Bama and LSU at this time but probably ahead of the rest of the league. 'Bama should be able to isolate their awesome skill guys in space and make things happen. Running right at the Luckeyes may prove a bit tough. Still think 'Bama wins by double digits.
