other state employees aren't paid by the taf. no lsu athletics are subsidized by tax payer dollars.

state employees will just have to try and not act like a buncha dumbasses.

There has been huge dissension among the LSU faculty and staff as well as other Public Institutions in Louisiana after the election last fall. Les Miles is an LSU Faculty Member and a state employee. Faculty, Staff, and state employees have been grumbling about the disparity in income between faculty, regular state employees, and the athletic department - and the new Governor has been listening.

This will make big news across the state of Louisiana when state employees learn about the buy out and huge salary of the Miles replacement in the face of their own financial demise.

How does LSU convince the Governor and all the other Louisiana State employees who haven't had a raise in years to pay Miles $12 million buy out and pay another coach $6 million?

maybe they should tell the truth. LSU athletics is a profit center. and LSU athletics will not pay the buy out. LSU athletics profit position was being threatened by LOSING football games and losing fan support. the buyouts that are being paid by select boosters should result in LSU athletic department keeping their profit position.

I doubt this will be a surprise to the vast majority of people working at LSU. As former employee at UF and current employee at Ole Miss, I can't remember ever running into a colleague who didn't understand that public funds were not used for the athletics programs at either university. Even colleagues who didn't particularly like sports never trotted that out because they knew it had nothing to do with reality. Anyone at LSU who does get worked up about it is either too lazy or too stupid to spend two minutes learning how their athletics department is funded, and their opinion should be treated accordingly.

Part of my job duties are to analyze Benefit costs in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Louisiana is the only state on that list that is insolvent and bankrupt. The employees are literally living paycheck to paycheck not knowing if their jobs will exist in 2017.

There is a new Governor who has publically said if the Legislature doesn't raise taxes he will let LSU athletics founder. Now LSU has to pay a $12 million buy out and hire a new coach with probably the highest starting salary in the history of college football? I sense a backlash from the Governor and state employees.

Then you should be fired immediately because you are as dumb and naive as Les Miles and have no idea where funds come from and where they go. Thank God you don't work for my company, you would be gone in the morning.

Dumbass. Miles is paid by contract by TAF which is a private institution. He is not a classified State employee.

Here you go since you're too stupid to understand what people are posting in this thread.

The reality is much different. Miles’ $4.3 million yearly take dwarfs that of any other on campus.

But he only makes $300,000 as a Louisiana State University staffer.

So where does the other $4 million come from? The primary source of Miles’ extraneous income is television money.

According to the report, LSU boosters are ready to pay $15 million needed to buy out Miles' contract. That number will jump to $20 million once all of the assistant coaches have their contracts bought out also.

Schad later said on ESPN that he was told "money is not an issue."

So Miles is/was paid about 300,000 in LSU funds. The rest is supplmental income from football sources (not LSU sources). And the boosters are going to pony up the money to buy out the contract (which I believe would be spread over 3-5 years IIRC).

There are about a dozen wealthy boosters that are taking care of all the financials. They are the big talking heads in getting Miles removed. They have plenty of money and are going to be going for a huge hire. We dont need any state money.

State workers are not needed to make the state run. LSU winning 8 games a year makes the state run.

Which means that not only is he not the highest paid employee at LSU as far as the state is concerned, he isn't even the highest paid coach.
