There is one school of thought that before you fire your winningest coach of all time you damn sure have a better coach already lined up. According to this view Ed O has zero chance. But if you hire Ed O and he runs the table then you may want to reconsider and hire him instead.

If Orgeron can get this team to 10/11 wins, he will be kept. 9 wins is more iffy. I like Ed.

I suspect Ed will get some love from the fans and beat a few teams. I predict he gets hired and stays on as LSU's new head coach.

Pretty sure it's been said before. I've had that line of thinking for awhile now.

my prediction is he'll rally this team. We may lose another one or two but he will beat bama at home and thus will be kept as Head Coach. And that will be the demise. 3 years of mediocrity until we hire hire a sober Steve Sarkisian.
Should just hire Kiffin now. Keep Aranda and Bebe. Unstoppable.

Give me O.

Best recruiter in the game, and a Louisiana boy?

Several USC(Trojans) fans have told me they wish they had hired him.

USC broke the rule. They didn't have a coach lined up. Art Briles is your fallback.

I don't want Big O as a head coach. I think it would be a mistake.

I've always liked Coach O. I'd take him and be happy, as long as he keeps the wins coming.

Did he get fired at Ole Miss or leave on his own?

I'm shocked that there is this much enthusiasm for Ed O potentially becoming the head coach. As an Ole Miss fan, I would love it.

I had so much hope for him when he came in after Cutcliffe. Cutcliffe could not recruit the area whatsoever and Orgeron stocked us full of talent. However, he didn't have any head coaching ability. That 2007 season was an unmitigated disaster with some really good talent. The only thing we were missing was Snead but we had enough talent to do better than 3 wins.

I don't think his stint with USC is totally reflective of him as a long term head coach. A coach gets fired, he rallies the team, they rattle off a bunch of wins. I expect he could do that for LSU. Long term head coach? Absolutely not.

He was fired after three seasons. He was 3-21 in the SEC and won 10 regular season games over 3 seasons.

In his final season, we won zero SEC games with the likes of Mike Wallace, Michael Oher, Peria Jerry, John Jerry, Kendrick Lewis, Greg Hardy, Dexter McCluster (although injured early) -- all future NFL draft selections.

As an ole miss fan the LAST person you want is coach Orgeron as the LSU coach
