if some loads my commissary account I could face time like your coach. Probably not with 17y old boys though. They probably frown upon that.

OP: Your post makes zero sense. Are you posting from an Insane Asylum? If so, take your meds and take a nap.

Dutch Shultz's comatose ramblings when he was on his deathbed made more sense than your post.

Or maybe I don't follow recruiting as intimately as do you?
That could be it.

See, you made it weird with the phrasing. College football is essentially a business relationship for the coach and players, especially the ones with NFL aspirations. It's not strange for potential business partners to use video conferencing services. Do you think Saban is gonna try to convince recruits to get GoToMeeting instead of using what they already have on their phone?

The alternative is that Saban spends time flying all across the country every week to see the recruits in person, which may be a violation. I'm not sure how often they can have in-home or other in-person contact. Either way, video chat makes way more sense than physically going around the country every week.

Honestly, the only really weird part about recruiting is the way some fans slobber over it. I don't see a problem with 247 and those services either. It's more about the ones on Twitter who just bombard and obsess over these guys that creep me out. Oh, that and Harbaugh's sleepovers.

fair point

weekly face time though?

personally I hate video conferences - go to meetings for presentations effective. video conferences worthless sans international when you need to read faces to determine if they understood wtf you were saying

This from a fan base that was going ape about getting a coach that literally hugged and kissed players relentlessly. Shut the fukk up.

we were always locked in on our value pick lol

that said why so aggressive

Nothing wrong with loving the results, but understanding it 50y old men facetiming boys is werid (even though it is the system)

I am so totally amused at the butt hurt Bama fans taking this so personally. I know this is an SEC football fanatic site, but I am still shocked that you guys can't see the absurdity of this intense courting relationship between coaches and recruits.

How many of you are parents of high schoolers? There is no way I would be okay with coaches facetimeing my kid weekly. Their lives are already extremely busy. What a major distraction that would be from their school work and other things. To be honest, I routinely make my teenagers leave their phones out on the kitchen table while they do homework in their rooms. The thought that all of these grown men (you know the top recruits are getting calls from multiple coaches) are lighting up my kid's phone would piss me off.

Is it that much different from a "weird" factor than a weekly phone call? I'd say it makes a difference to recruits though too. Face Timing lets you know the other person is actually fully engaged instead of just half-way paying attention while doing other business.

yeah both or weird

the visual of a coach facetiming is my line in the sand for some odd reason.

Again I get why it works, and why it is done. Just funny in generally. What do you talk about weekly. Seems like a pretty simple proposition. You come here go to school play football. I would be all for reduced contacted for all recruits. You get 1 hour meeting to make pitch or 1 weekend visit whatever.

I see what you are saying. You would think that would be beneath a man of Saban's stature in his profession. But he understands that he isn't where he is today without those players. I think Saban's greatest strength is being able to change with the times. He has adapted to today's game without sacrificing what he knows to make a great program. Few people have that ability.

Definitely creepy. Did not know about that until it was mentioned on this board.

Even if your theoretical son is being recruited heavily by and considering 6 six schools, that's like an hour of time out of a week. If you can't find 1 hour in a week for something that can ultimately earn you millions of dollars, your time management and priority assessment skills are atrocious.
