I mean, the whole concept of recruiting is weird and creepy, don't you think? You've got million dollar businesses set up to facilitate fans fantasizing about which 17-18 year old might come to their school. You've got Harbaugh "allegedly" molesting recruits at sleepovers, and I remember some really creepily obsessive quotes from Meyer back in his day at UF where he was saying you have to like wrap up these kids with your octopus tentacles (that guy always creeped the frick out of me). I'm not really a Saban apologist but this is what they all do, some more creepy (Harbaugh) than others. Jesus, just writing this paragraph makes me want to take a shower.

If you pull back the curtain though you have this guy talk sweet nothings to a 16-18 year olds weekly and trying to get them on board. That sounds like an absolutely horrible job, and honestly something I don't respect. I mean yeah he wins football games and I want that, but honestly I think we have put entirely too much value on Carlos Weiner types.

Any coach in the nation would do that if they knew it would result in getting a big time recruit

And if you break down a movie's plot into basic terms then it gets really weird too.

It wasn't meant to be an analogy. Of course he would be doing it too.

I'm just say to put that mental picture in your head and laugh at the comedic gold that would ensue.

I know all Bama fans aren't idiots, but that doesn't include you.

"Melt"? Jeebus! WTF are you talking about?

First of all Tua is not going to flip to LSU

Secondly, Saban is a college football coach and the lifeblood of a program is recruiting. He makes millions of dollars to deliver results so who cares what you think about

Maybe the new regime at LSU should to note how Saban does it and maybe LSU wouldn't get their shite pushed in every year by Bama

That's not a good analogy. I can't imagine Bear Bryant doing anything in this day and age because he was from a different time. Couldn't imagine him using a smartphone, wearing headphones, etc. But I can guarantee you, that he would have used whatever resources that were at his disposal if it meant making Alabama the best.

read some stories about recruiting back then it wasn't hand holding and sleep overs

if you want to win kid come to T - town otherwise go F yourself. Where does your daddy keep the bourbon!

Well, you're probably relieved to know your coach won't be kissing the players before each ballgame. So, you're probably happy LSU whiffed on Herman.

ill facetime with a garden gnome for 3 hours a day every day if I am taking home that pay check and dominating college football. There is a reason bama recruits better than anyone else. It works.

That's one way to look at it. Another way is to say, "if you pull back the curtain you has this guy who is developing a relationship with someone who will be on his team for 4 years. He's showing the player and the family that he cares about them and that he makes them a priority in his schedule"

yeah but it is BS- get a knee injury and enjoy this greyshirt kid. I am not saying that it is wrong. It is an absolute business, and it isn't like the kid isn't getting a good education. It is just all fake. So back to the poster who said imagine a straight shooter no nonsense hard arse like Saban face timing. It makes me giggle honestly.

I wonder how different your tune would be if you heard Ed O was doing something similar with Dylan Moses the past few weeks. also,

I am sure he is face timing if he could. If I heard he could and didn't I would be flaming away on recruiting board. This isn't about LSU or Bama to me honestly.

also glad you like Bottle Rocket

so me laughing at the idea of Saban facetime like a 17y old girl isn't amusing

and here I use Saban because he is the highest deity of College Football. I want Ed to be on their reading Moses Cajun Night before Christmas on facetime every night this month it is allowed by NCAA

Yeah the kissing is bullshite

It is a big business as it should be, and there is no room for kissing in the office. You think Bill Belicheick is going to kiss him in the pros.

would love to win championships

but sorry 50-60y old man face timing a 17y old so that he can continue making millions will always strike me as odd.

Take someone as serious as Saban and it will induce laughter

I was just discussing with a friend that in about two years, Harbaugh is going to get sick of losing to Meyer and kissing arse of 18 yr olds and go back to the pros. I kind of agree with OP. These guys must think to themselves some days, "what the frick am I doing here

For Jim, he's making 9 million Year. Plus, he just might be weird enough that he enjoys overnight Netflix and chill with high school boys.

Everyone knows what Saban does it's no secret. He works extremely hard every day all day. It's a way of life not replicated in spurts of equal effort, pretty new locker rooms, helmet glitter, nor podium rants. It's sacrifice and if a coach doesn't have it all his life he's not suddenly getting it now.

Thank you for injecting much needed sanity into this shitshow of a world we live in. You truly are the modern plato, shakespeare, and james joyce all rolled up into a tiny, soggy, corndog.

I hope you go to prison and serve as the glory hole for all of k block.
