Well speaking of town sizes, look at it this way:
Knoxville metro: 699,xxx
Attendance avg: 19,xxx
Pct of pop: .028
Gainesville metro: 264,xxx
Attendance avg: 10,5xx
Pct of pop: .040
Columbia metro: 176,xxx
Attendance avg: 10,xxx
Pct of pop: .057
Columbia and Gainesville both do quite well comparatively, when you consider town size

Thank you for bringing some intelligence into this thread.

When you have 270K people in your town, it seems like you should be able to sell out a 12K seat arena every night when your team is a perennial top 15 team.

I mean Florida is in a State of 27 Million. They should be doing better than that.

Just because basketball is LSU's third sport doesnt mean Florida has better basketball fans or care more about basketball. LSU cares about their third sport nearly as much as Florida fans do their first.
The swamp sucks when florida isnt a ranked team
If LSU had a top 15 program the PMAC would be packed for damn near every game.

Hell it sucked this year. It seemed like the stadium was half empty every time they were on TV.

I mean, i get that the actual real die hard Florida fans that are on TD dont see it, cuz they are so close to it. But UF prob has the worst fans in the SEC.
Now the SEC has the best fans, so its not like Florida is that bad overall. But it's not something they should go around beating their chests about.

And the last 5 years are one of the worst 5-year stretches in our program's history.
Auburn, Georgia, and Ole Miss are a clear bottom three in whatever order you want to put them in.
Alabama is definitely top half
I'd go with
1. Kentucky
2. Arkansas
3. Tennessee
4. Vanderbilt
5. Alabama
6. Mississippi State
7. LSU
8. South Carolina
9. Florida
10. Georgia
11. Ole Miss
12. Auburn
I'm not sure about A&M or Missouri, but Missouri probably slides in around 4 or 5, and A&M is probably above UGA. I am also probably overrating State because they're our biggest rival and Vandy because frick them we will never win in Nashville, but besides Kentucky it is very much dependent on whether or not the team is winning.

Is basketball really that big of a deal in Alabama? Maybe I did underrate yall.

I think so. Our hardcore fans are among the best in the SEC. If you gave me the choice of Alabama winning the next two championships in football or getting to the Final Four next year in a non-fluky way, I take the basketball.
But you have a ton of football only fans and football/whatever is winning fans that are extremely vocal and annoying.
Alabama has the second most SEC wins, tournament titles, winning record against every school except Kentucky and Arkansas (which is close), etc. I think we're also third in most NCAA victories without a Final Four behind y'all and Boston College. Alabama just was consistently good at basketball for a long time, never elite, but always in the sweet 16.
Also, I'm biased.

We are too low. I like watching Basketball...the problem is our team has made it tough to watch. We had a lot of momentum coming out of last season and I think we are all just a little disappointed.

I think it is something like this:
1. Kentucky: Huge support and passion
2. Arkansas: both teams have very good support
3. Tenn
4. Missouri: Solid
5. Florida
6. Vandy
7. South Carolina: OK support
8. Bama
9. Miss State
10-14: Texas A&M, LSU, UGA, Auburn, Ole Miss: DGAF

UGA ranked way too high. We have to have the worst attendance at basketball games of any SEC team.

I agree with this, as kige would say. In all honesty I'd say beyond Kentucky most fans from 2-14 would rather see a good football team, but will definitely support a good bball team as well.
