In my opinion Richt upgraded himself. I just never looked at UGA and thought that was amoung the top jobs in America and history has pretty much shown that but I think Miami is. Yea, yea, the weight room isn't as shiny and the treatment areas aren't staffed with Ph.d'd dieticians but Miami has won those 5 titles since UGA won their last one. Richt is smiling on this one.
So you would take Nebraska or Minnesota over Georgia too because they have more national titles? Ridiculous.
I am hoping my sarcasm meter is broken.

If you need to win in order to have any support, it's a terrible job. The first lean season that comes along means the bottom falls. Once the bottom falls, you have to start rebuilding. Rebuilding for years just to get another season of success before repeating the pattern is the very definition of a job based on inefficiency and failure.
Miami football is basically UNLV basketball. They attract attention when they manage to enough talent through questionable means to ensure they'll be getting investigated, but once that's over, nobody worries or cares about them.

I dont know if you are in love with the Univ of New Jawsey @ Coral Gables ro whatever....but facts are facts.
What school will have 15-20,000 fans show up at rented stadium 45 min drive from campus to watch UM play Wake Forest or NC State? That includes fanbs of the school they are playing...the students wont even drive in that fricking traffic to go watch.
Its got no booster support and its bank account is barely covering expenses. Thats the truth. Yea...they hire Richt and he will bring excitement for their first year under him and then what????? Back to mediocre.

Unfortunately none of these young bucks even know who these fine upstanding gentlemen are.
I owe a lot to 2LC. The cassette tapes were a hot commodity at my school. Back when Hip Hop was actually FRESH, HIP, and had lots of HOP.

The best thing about the Miami job is that if you lose a game only a few dozen people are there to see it.

The university should have built a new stadium much closer to campus in the past 7 years. Now, at this point they do need a new stadium and to update facilities. If they do this, they could easily become a powerhouse again, given the insane amount of talent there and their football history.
There isn't any room on campus to build a large enough stadium to accommodate 60,000 fans and parking. The traffic situation would be beyond ridiculous. Sun Life Stadium is a reasonably accessible (for South Florida anyway) central location for their fan base in the Dade-Broward-Palm Beach Tri-County population. With that facility, it will never make sense to build an on-campus stadium. They definitely need to upgrade the practice and workout facilities. Miami fans are fair weather fans. They will draw fans if they win. They used to outdraw the Dolphins back in the 80's.

richt dealt with the same kind of players at georgia. there is a reason half the roster was suspended every year.

The only real benefit I see is the recruiting resources within 30 miles of Coral Gables.
That and having a easy path to national championship. All they have to do with all that talent in the state is win the ACC and they're pretty much in the National Title hunt. Much easier path. What Clemson and FSU, maybe VT are your only competition. Not bad.

Younger people on the board won't remember or weren't alive when Miami was at its peak in the 80's and 90's. I'd would walk into a shoe store here in Texas and would see more Miami gear than Texas stuff. They had a very large national following. Miami may never fill up their home games, but they could recreate the national following they had during those years.
I remember. I don't think you'll see that duplicated again. Think of all the rappers that wore their gear. Those days are over. The Miami rappers that helped with their notoriety are either dead or in their late 50s.

The truth is Miami doesn't need a recruiter, they need an X and O's guy who can basically take the local talent and put it on the field.
I don't think Richt is that guy.

Actually, Richt was/is a very good Xs and Os guy and I would expect he'll be heavily involved in the offense at Miami.

I know that. You said the Miami kids are a problem. I named a bunch of guys from all over the country involved in stuff that wasn't alcohol or marijuana related or petty stuff. Who were the problem kids from Miami at UF?

Right. I said from any other particular area meaning as a group.
The Miami kids, as a group, give us more trouble than kids from any other area as a group.
In other words, as a group, the kids from Tampa, are less trouble.
