Everyone was crowing that the Miami job was somewhere between 5th - 8th best opening on the board, nowhere near as good as USCe or Mizzou. probably not as good as UCF even...

Everybody wants to bury Miami. This year they won as many games as USC, UCLA, LSU and Texas A&M. We lost to Cincinnati on a Thursday night; that game hung them. And they probably should’ve beaten Fla. State. People forget two years ago this team won the Coastal.

Ouch...

What an invalid argument.

That's like saying Louisiana Tech won as many games as those teams, making them sound better than they really are.

EDIT: or Ohio, or Arkansas St...you get the picture

The Miami job is a pretty crappy job based on facilities, money, fan support and prestige.

The only real benefit I see is the recruiting resources within 30 miles of Coral Gables.

However, can Richt deal with the type of players that Miami tends to recruit? I'm not so sure about that.

I doubt he can

But what a crazy world it would be if Richt took them to the playoffs

I'm mean, if you're going to retire, South Florida seems like a popular place...

Laughable statement.

The U needs a legit coach that can recruit his arse off and they will wake up.

The only problem with the U is the horrible fan support but winning usually fixes this.

I'm wondering how the yearly thuggery of "da u" will square with Mark richts Christian values?

Oh wait, he coached at Georgia for years...never mind.

I know Miami is his alma mater, but it still doesn't seem like a good fit for him. He is a religious man and that place is a cesspool for everything he would be against. What an unholy alliance.

That all gets fixed with winning. And Miami just made a home run hire.

In a place like Miami, that is not necessarily true.

let's see

he gets a top 20 roster, top 25 at worst

he has a franchise QB to work with

a little bit of an easier road to ACC Championship game

and Miami will probably let him have team votes when it comes time to punish key players

I am pulling for him unless and until he plays UGA

I mean, Miami beat out Maryland and UVA for Richt's services. Let's not act like they just hired Saban away from Alabama or something.

It is a solid hire, but they hired a guy that UGA just fired and beat out a bunch of 6-6 mid tier programs for him. Not to mention he is an alum.

Yeah,....Miami's reputation of Thug U is for shite that happened 25-30 years ago. The Nevin Shapiro crap wasn't any different then what goes on at other schools except he got a bug up his arse after the U cut ties with him and hurt his feelings after he was busted for his Ponzi scheme. They really haven't been any worse than any other program since Butch Davis took the program over in 1995 and the administration has seen to it that every hire since then would put a lid on the swagger.
