I think a lot of his ints were due to the fact he knew the defense wasn't going to hold anyone so he was trying too hard to make a play happen.

I've given him crap about the ints, but I think this is correct and I was probably full of shite. It has to be a lot of pressure knowing your defense isn't going to stop anybody and you absolutely have to score.

I'm just confused as to why Mike Evans himself isn't being considered for the Heisman. I mean, have we REALLY gotten that QB-centric for this award?

Mike Evans:
57 Receptions, 1263 yards, 12 TDs

Seriously, what's a WR got to do to get some love?

What about ODB?

51 Receptions, 1051 yards, 8 TDs, 116 PR Yds, 790 KR yds.

Sumlin, too. And I agree. But I can kinda see the reasoning - the QB is involved in every play. Evans has received a lot more attention from secondaries lately, which detracts from his numbers somewhat. On the other hand if he is double-teamed that means somebody else will likely be open, which is exactly what has happened. I'd love for Evans to get to New York - where he wouldn't win. I'd be ecstatic if he wins the Biletnikoff, which I think he probably will.

As far as the increased INTs - to be fair, that's partially the result of a much crappier defense putting him in situations to where he's constantly playing to catch up or stay ahead.

This is absolute truth. The defense has put a TON of pressure on Johnny to feel like he has to score every possession (which isn't far from the truth).

I honestly feel bad for him. Even an average D and his MNC and 2nd Heisman probably wouldn't be in question. However, that is life. All he can do is his best.

I thought he'd slump this season. Dead wrong.

A lot of people felt that way. Could you explain why there was that feeling? Last year he was a red shirt freshman....wouldn't the common thought be that he would improve?

Not a complaint, but just curious why many felt that way.

The kid is obnoxious. But his football skills are ridiculous. Curious to see how his skills transfer to the NFL. Best of luck to him.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

I didn't, but I think I can answer.

1. Sophomore slump
2. Teams had a year of tape to help them prepare their defenses (this always seemed ridiculous to me).
3. Off-field distractions, closely related to "he's a douchebag."

I hold no ill will towards anybody here over their bad JFF projections, but it is gratifying to see so many here actually pulling for him to win another Heisman. I didn't see that coming.

It is the level of competition. Mizzou's backup QB had a similar play vs. Kentucky.

Yeah, it's not like he went off for over 560 on Bama.

Of course Ole Miss just tried to put a spy on him and kept him to 470 Total yards.

Funny thing is, Evans DIDN'T catch that pass. It was Pope. Kennedy has caught some highlights as well.

It's also worth noting that the play in question against Bama was a third and long from just outside FG range. It was a prayer, but the game context made it the right time to throw it up.

I honestly don't see many great plays that Johnny does. He has a bunch of ballhawking receivers who just get it done. Any other quarterback who runs around and then just throws it up for grabs with a prayer get intercepted.

And that's the majority of what I see, him throwing it up and his receivers coming down with it by sheer chance alone.

He's damn elusive though, have to give him that.

P.S., don't even start with the: He's picking good matchups bull. Throwing into five defenders off of your back foot late down the center of the field is not picking a good matchup.
