All true, but Kennedy is really the only coach where a decision needed to be made

Jo Evans has been mediocre at best since we joined the SEC.

Childress has 1 CWS appearance in 10 seasons.

Corbelli has yet to advance past the round of 32 in over 10 years

Yes. He's the best AD we've had in forever. He's a Twitter badass. What more could you ask for?

I would ask for an AD who doesn't post Twitter photos posing with the championship belt of the laughing stock of the pro wrestling world. Yes, I know TNA's owner graduated from Ole Miss.

Only SEC schools to not make a Final Four yet
Florida - Elite Eight in 1997
Kentucky - Elite Eight in 1982, 2010, 2012, and 2013
Ole Miss -
Mississippi State - With Vic, A future Final Four would not surprise me
Missouri -

For Ole Miss - They have reached the Sweet Sixteen eight times and the Elite Eight five times (1985, 1986, 1989, 1992, and 2007).

Not sure yet since ours is brand new.

That being said, he's 0 for 1 in major decisions so far by rehiring our baseball coach this year.

let's hope he lives up to the accolades, we need someone who can go to work and get it done faster and better than the previous one, we've had too much self congratulations on doing an average job in that office.

UF's softball national title was the 26th Florida has earned under Jeremy Foley, tying him with UCLA's Dan Guerrerro for most national championships claimed under a sitting athletic director. It also gives Florida as many national championships as any team in the country since 2006 and 2008; the Gators are tied with USC in both regards.

Here, though, is the kicker:

Florida is the only school in the nation that has captured multiple national championships in each of the last six years.
End of discussion.

Was the softball stadium not on the master plan before Steudeman got here?

An "upgrade" was planned, but nothing like what they are building. State's new softball stadium is going to be one of the best in the country. And Studeman has been a key part of its planning - she even had the team out there with sledge hammers.

Some people think Schaffer is the best coach we have on campus. He certainly had a great year last year, and the future looks bright - they may be right.

The problem with Bjork is he is Ole Miss' Greg Byrne. No ties to Ole Miss, and he's good enough to solicit interest from a big name athletic department - a la Byrne heading to Arizona. Bjork grew up in Kansas and went to Emporia State. I could see Kansas looking to hire him away when they have an opening. Bjork has also been in administration at Miami, UCLA and Mizzou. Dude was 29 years old when he was in charge of his first Division I athletic department. He's going places.

I'm not sure I've seen any Vandy or Bama Fans in this thread. South Cakalack has been missing as well.

Battle is nearly 75. Everyone knows that he's a placeholder. What can really be said about him?

I'm generally cool with The Goldfather, though he's had some health issues recently. I suspect we may be on the market for a new AD in a year or two.

I think Shaefer is. Howland might be another. Stunk up the place with Rice but that might have had more to do with the dumpster fire situation but then again, he was partly to blame for letting it get that bad under Stansbury.

Here's the rundown of SEC ADs and how they got there.

School - Name (Alma Mater), previous schools

Alabama - Bill Battle (Alabama) - coached at Army and Tennessee and founded the Collegiate Licensing Corporation before coming to Alabama.

Arkansas - Jeff Long (Michigan) - was AD at Pitt. Also worked at Oklahoma, Michigan, Virginia Tech and Eastern Kentucky

Auburn - Jay Jacobs (Auburn) - an Auburn man through and through.

Florida - Jeremy Foley (Hobart) - starting selling tickets at Florida in 1979 and worked his way up

Georgia - Greg McGarity (Georgia) - worked at Georgia, went to Florida as Foleys #2, came back to Georgia after AD got DUI.

Kentucky - Mitch Barnhardt (Ottawa) - was at Oregon State before Kentucky

LSU - Joe Alleva (Lehigh) - was AD at Duke (hired Cutcliffe) before coming to LSU. Handled the Duke Lacrosse disaster as well.

Ole Miss - Ross Bjork (Emporia State) - was AD at Western Kentucky before Ole Miss. Also worked at Missouri, Miami and UCLA

MSU - Scott Stricklin (Mississippi State) - was #2 at Kentucky before becoming #2 at MSU - stepped in when Byrne went to Arizona. Also worked at Auburn, Tulane (Rich Rod's 12-0 season) and Baylor (the basketball murders)

Missouri - Mack Rhoades (Arizona) - was at Houston before coming to Missouri. Also worked at UTEP, Akron, Marquette and Yale

South Carolina - Ray Tanner (NC State) - former head baseball coach.

A&M - Eric Hyman (UNC Chapel Hill)- was at South Carolina, TCU, Miami and VCU.

Barnhart got his MS from Ohio University.

Also, Barnhart had several assistants under him at Kentucky that have become AD's at other major D1 schools. Rob Mullens of Oregon, Coyle of Boise State and Stricklin of Miss. State are a few I can think of.

Barnhart also started the "Catspy's" which is a yearly award show to recognize the athletes of the whole athletic program.

Since Mitch has became AD at UK, the volleyball, soccer, tennis, baseball, Track and Field, and softball have made major strides in advancing in the NCAA's (i.e., Womens World Series, etc.)

Plus, he was just won AD of the year voted by his peers.

I put undergraduate alma maters, but four SEC Ads have Master's in Sports Administration from Ohio U. - supposedly the top program in nation for producing athletic directors.

Greg Byrne, Arizona AD, got his masters in sports administration from MSU while he was the athletic director. Bet that was strange for some students.

SEC AD Salaries Ranked

IIRC, the salary for Vandy's AD is also for other duties, which explains why it's so high. Arkansas' AD has the potential to make the most in the SEC, outside of Vandy's.

I can't remember the new AD's name either and I don't want to bother looking it up. I didn't mind Alden though.

I'm not going to break down all of his hires and choices but the athletic budget quintupled under his watch. Pinkel and Mike Anderson were both good hires, even if Mike fricked the program over on the way out the door.

Granted, Haith was a head scratcher, but even Quinn Snyder was a good hire at the time. Cocaine is a bitch and nobody could have predicted the impact of this guy...
