Incorrect. Miles has made 2.1 million more than Sumlin from 2012-now. It actually would take out to 2018 (at current salaries) for Sumlin to be earning more money.

Hell if we know.

He is a good guy and good coach overall we know that. Hires great assistants and is great recruiter.

Is a great game coach when he plays with his gut and rolls the dice. (Usually beats Satan when doing this) When plays close to vest is almost un-watchable. Mad hater is good Less and Anti-Satan, Conservative Les is bad less, often gets beat

I actually like Les. He's one of my favorite SEC coaches, even though he loves to ridicule Arkansas. He and his wife both seem like good people.

And yes, I do think he's underrated. In the 30 years before the first expansion, LSU had one 10-win season, so people forget what an accomplishment that is (Arkansas had 9 in the same time period and only Alabama had more with 14).

I think the ability to hire good coaches on your staff is indicative to being a good coach a good person and having good opportunities at the school you coach at. I think Les not getting enough credit comes from the fans and media because I feel he is very well respected amongst his fellow coaches.

When LSU has a pro style quarterback hes a great coach. When LSU has a dual threat quarterback hes a good coach. Makes me wonder why Les would ever want to have a dual threat quarterback in the offense he runs.

Good but not great. Not a tier 1 coach like Saban or Meyer.

He helped turn around a shitty OSU program and has had a great run here. Unfortunately for him he'll always be compared to Saban.

Enigma [uh-nig-muh]
1.a puzzling or inexplicable occurrence or situation.
2.a person of puzzling or contradictory character.

That's Les Miles. He's the most enigmatic coach in SEC history. I don't have a clue to explain his success. I know how to explain his failures - but he has had significant successes and to this day they remain a mystery to me.

I would bet a signficant amount of money his IQ is less than 100. I would trust him to watch my children but I wouldn't trust him to invest my money or even plan a day trip to the Zoo. His relationship with the english language is interesting - sorta like listening to a grown man pretend to be a child. And that's exactly how he coaches.

Pretty sure Jimmy Johnson coached neither of them.

He has an economics degree from michigan. He plays the fool card extremely well, but is very intelligent.

He is a fantastic recruiter, there is no doubt about that. He does not, however, have a great gameday mentality. Hell even in the article written about him by Wright Thompson a few years ago, Miles got lambasted about his always being late for everything. He's just not a very good manager. He needs elite assistants running his offenses and defenses.

He's a great coach but his goofy persona makes him look bad IMO but the press loves him.

Les and Richt are virtually the exact same.

saban built a machine at LSU. Les has added to that machine quiet nicely and has driven it very well over 11 years. he's certainly not the x's and o's coach that saban is but, he will be our "bear Bryant" when it's all said and done and saban will never be a "bear Bryant" because they already have one.

You don't have the sustained success in the SEC that Les has had without being a good coach.

Now I'm the first to admit that the Steele hire was a head-scratcher. But in typical Miles fashion, I expect this goofy choice to work out well for LSU.

This thread isn't about Saban. Or the alcoholic wife beater.
