I hear ya. LSU's SEZ Expansion is more about adding premium seating. That's where the money is these days.

Yep. We're bowling in the north endzone but it's only going to add like 7K seats because it is going to be luxury boxes and chair back seats.

A good idea, the trend of going to 100K+ seats is unsustainable.

Hell the LSU football team has been as good as it has ever been the past 10+ years, and I think going up in seats is a mistake. Sure renovate the stadium, make it more modern but adding seats seems like a mistake.

The tickets might be sold be they won't be filled unless it's a premium game like Ala, UF, or AU.

61,000 is still bigger than three other SEC venues, which is where we currently stand anyway.

after the last couple of years of Kentucky fans throwing a shite fit every time somebody ripped their attendance and claiming they fill it normally they are now defending downsizing by claiming it must be done for more boxes and "better" seats ehh?

seems like if there really was the demand they claimed they could get more boxes and keep the capacity at current levels.

Will get worse. Much easier to sit at home and watch on a huge HDTV these days than shell out hundreds if not thousands (if you're traveling) for a seat.

Mega stadiums will sell out but rarely, if ever, be full. Particularly with rent-a-wins dominating the OOC home schedule.

Seems like they know exactly what the dimensions of a football field are. Unfortunately, that track's dimensions cut into the football field. It happens.

And if Stoops has some success I'm sure they'll look at expanding. In the meantime though there's a far greater need for the other amenities.

I've taken one road trip to commonwealth (last fall actually). It was certainly not the worst SEC stadium I've been to. It is already much nicer to me than State, Ole Miss, or South Carolina. I've never been to Arkansas but from what I've seen on TV its better than RRS as well. When the best thing you have going for you is an obnoxiously large jumbotron (State and Arky) you have no right to be trolling anyone about stadiums

Commonwealth should look real nice when you guys get the renovations done.

I'm assuming you came to SC in 2010. We've made major cosmetic improvements ourself since then. Hope you can make it back some time.

I didn't get to make the trip in 2010, I came in 2005 actually. But had I been there in 2010 even a brand new Taj Mahal would have looked bad that day.

That is the one thing that sucks about expansion, the gaps between trips to Commonwealth, Williams-Brice, The Swamp, Sanford, and Vandy's stadium were large as it was. Adding Mizzou/ATM only widens that gap to unsustainable levels imo(same thing with the gap between getting to host you guys in Tuscaloosa).

I went to Tuscaloosa in 2009. Beautiful stadium, and I know I just missed the renovations.

This downsizing thing appears to be a trend...Arizona State is downsizing Sun Devil Stadium as part of their renovation, as did both Cal and Stanford at their respective stadiums.

Tremds for middling programs. A&M is upgrading, LSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame etc. The two biggest names I know expanding and reducing recently are Baylor and TCU. Who gives a frick about either of those programs?

That is what sucks, we are in the same conference but I don't know when we will actually get to play you guys again (other than Atlanta). I wish we could do a survivor type elimination and get the SEC back down to 12, 10 or even 8 teams.

But instead of playing you guys, we have to play State every year. And every other year its More Cowbell. And that town never changes. Columbia is a really nice area. Starkville sucks, I'm no Auburn fan but I really like Auburn's campus, Starkville is like a really cheap knock off of Auburn's campus.

As examples of teams in major conferences with such a shitty fan base that they have major renovations but reduce capacity. I care because they are great examples of the point I was making?

I think in the foreseeable future, all of us who have giant sized our stadiums are going to find empty seats. Times are changing. Seriously.

I'm glad LSU is adding club and suites because we don't need more general seating. Yeah, the seats are sold, but with the crappy home schedules, there won't be asses in them except for big games.
