Both sides certainly have their issues but I respectfully disagree that they are two sides of the same coin. I use to be middle of the road but have been pushed right by the insanity from the left. The Democratic party has moved so far left that it's barely recognizable from where it was 15 to 20 years ago. If anything the right has moved slightly more towards the middle in response to the huge shift left which led to a grassroots revolt (Tea Party movement) against both the left and the establishment right. The right has its crazies but they pale in comparison to the bat shite crazy lunacy coming from the left

I'm kind of perplexed as to how Trump seems to be a Rorschach inkblot to ... left wingers is as good a name as anything.
At least as regards what he campaigned on he is as close to a dove on foreign policy as we've seen since... geez it's been a heck of a long time. Eisenhower?
He doesn't want to get rid of Social Security. Actually his positions on economics would have been pretty run of the mill - in 1975 before all this marketeer Milton Friedman crap.
He really doesn't seem to give a flaming rip about homosexuality, one way or the other. He is as antisemitic as anyone who has spent their life in NY real estate, and whose child married Jewish. Yet both charges are inexplicably leveled against him.
Yet it is his position on illegal immigration that inspires frothing at the mouth like I have not seen in my lifetime.
You know I really think I could make a good case for Trump being to the left of everyone on pocketbook issues since Nixon.
On the other hand, he isn't going to be able to fix Obamacare. The only thing that will fix that is to eliminate it, or morph it into a version of single payer or one of the approaches used successfully in other countries.
He could buy some time if he is able to muscle drug companies, but I think that one will be harder to pull off than building the wall.
