You're right.

LSU finished as number 1. That's the only thing that matters.

I'd take the trophy too but it's certainly not something I would look back and be that proud of.

It's certainly nowhere near the accomplishment of a team like 2004 Auburn or even a 2011 LSU.

Just like Alabama did in 11.

That's because you're a fan, not a football player.

I'd have that attitude from any perspective.

Or I'm just not a loser, either way.

Losing to two unranked doesn't diminish your resume?
nope. Not when you have the best resume in cfb. As in there wasn't anyone better. Not sure why some people choose to only focus on lsu's losses that year and totally ignore all the accomplishments

only to people who don't realize that teams get better and/or worse as the season progresses.

Right, so you'd look back at it and say, "oh wow, we accomplished a lot in that football season, beat more ranked teams than any other team in the country, and won an SEC and national title, but I'm not proud of it because we stumbled a couple times along the way."

Yeah, you're an idiot.

going undefeated with an easier schedule isn't better. Just different.

I'm not convinced that 2007 LSU was that great.
@ UK 37-43 3OT loss
AU 30-24 win
@ UA 41-34 win
3 weeks later...
AR 48-50 3OT loss
TN 21-14 win

That's hardly what I'd call a dominant team. 2 losses to teams that'd finish the season unranked. Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee weren't good teams, but LSU struggled against them. LSU also struggled against a good Florida team. LSU's only good regular season wins were Virginia Tech and Florida.

LSU dominated Ohio State in the BCSNC, so I won't say that LSU didn't belong there; however, in a year like 2007, what two teams really were the 2 best in the country? Alabama only needed a maximum of 2 teams to lose in 2011 and 2012 to make it to the national championship. I don't feel like counting how many losses LSU waited for in order to get into the BCSNC. Furthermore, Alabama did not lose and struggle in the last 2 weeks of the regular season. They lost in early November; there's a big difference between that and Thanksgiving Day and SEC Championship game weekend.

name another team that has beaten 6 ranked teams in a season. the list is short

quote:

2 losses to teams that'd finish the season unranked
again, focusing on only one aspect of lsu's resume to the exclusion of other aspects

quote:

Alabama only needed a maximum of 2 teams to lose in 2011 and 2012 to make it to the national championship
this is of course a ludicrous statement. bama needed all kinds of help, it just didn't happen in one week.

no more than any team needs in any season. like the losses in the last week are somehow illegitimate or make lsu less of a good team.

I see 5 for 07 LSU:

#5/#4 Ohio State
#9/#9 Virginia Tech
#12/#12 Tennessee
#13/#16 Florida
#15/#14 Auburn

10 Auburn had 7:

#3/#3 Oregon
#8/#8 LSU
#10/#11 Alabama
#12/#12 Arkansas
#15/#17 Mississippi State
#22/#22 South Carolina (twice)
