Just attend a Saints game.

That's true. Would be cool if they served cans and then the concession guy could walk thru the stands selling them like popcorn

I drink before hand and bring my bourbon in for the game. I would be much more apt to have a few overpriced draft beers and save my good bourbon.

It should be mandatory....before, during and after games.

I would even be happy if you could use your ticket to redeem 1 beer. That would slightly help with the soberness.

Sure, but not in the student section.
Colin Cowherd made a comment that crowds are worse at NFL games (as opposed to college) because most of the people in the crowd are beer swilling rough necks who have no degree and won't lose their job if they get in a fist fight at a football game (sounds like a majority of BDS, but I digress).
A majority of fans wouldn't have a problem drinking a few beers during the game, but as soon as a fight breaks out or some incident happens, MADD would come in and start blaming the $10 beer sales.

Yes.
How many times have you seen someone binge drink before the game so that could be intoxicated before entering?
How many times have you seen someone with a flask of hard liquor?
At least by offering beer in concessions, people might not be so inclined to get hammered before the games and not as drunk during the games as they keep hitting the flasks.
Honestly, it may be wishful thinking, but I for one would like to see less falling over drunks spilling crap on other people and then getting beaten to a pulp.

I agree, the last game I went to at LSU was an Ole Miss game. We were up near the top and some Ole Miss guy was ridiculously drunk. He was tolerated until the third quarter, and then he spilled a ton of it on some girls with some LSU people (who were really drunk as well). A scuffle broke out and I was worried my wife might get knocked down.
I think the hard alcohol was definitely the contributing factor in all of this. If that guy had been forced to go to concessions or even just drink one beer at a time, I would like to think he would not have been so ridiculously intoxicated.

It should be only beer and wine, NO LIQUOR

lsu drank beer at the west Virginia game with no problems.
so the SEC is wrong not to allow beer because the evidence points to LSU fans behaving themselves with beer in the stadium.

It's not fair to single out LSU fans, every SEC fan base have their drunks and/or binge drinkers

I'd prefer they didn't sell alcohol at the game but I have a small child so I'm probably not of the majority.

I personally don't care one way or the other because I've been sober for almost a year now.
That said, the sloppiest I've ever been at a football game was at Tiger Stadium when we chugged bloody marys before the game and snuck in whiskey and vodka.
However, the atmosphere at LSU games is noticeably better (more civil) than Saints games - at least in the Superdome's Terrace (cheap seats), where I've been attacked multiple times by other Saits fans and see about four-five fights a year on average.
Before I quit drinking, I was too cheap to spend more than $20 or $30 on booze at a sporting event, so aside from LSU games when I really went overboard, I tended not to get too sloppy at the games where I could buy alcohol.

Sure. then we could be just like European soccer matches. Nothing like being at a riot when a football game breaks out.

Tejas just OKed it. coincidentally at the same time the state just OKed open carry of firearms, even on college campuses.
Hot damn!!!
Handgun and Hard Liquor Night! My favorite special event night at the stadium.

I doubt it would matter here. State law prohibits it and I doubt there is an appetite in the legislature to change that. They get away with it in the suites and club levels because they are considered "private leases" or some such nomenclature. On a side note, though; Millsaps College, a private Methodist liberal art school has a beer garden at their miniscule football facility. So, there's that.

that's a valid concern. I'm not a parent, but I see what you're saying. But...you're naive if you don't think there aren't people hammered drunk around you already. I have young cousins that I sit with at games sometimes, and it makes me cringe when I hear rednecks around us cussing up a storm at the top of their lungs. "That guy" is gonna get drunk though whether they sell beer inside or not.
