No. Beer sales would kill the consession lines..

I think the SEC should go NASCAR and allow small coolers..

They already do, but it is limited to big donors. I would love to see it banned altogether but donor money will keep it flowing at the upper price points. If the fans (and the is includes the wealthy ones) could drink and not act like jackholes I would be all for it, but so far that has not happened.

Big reason for no pass out rule in the SEC is to get the heavy drinking fans the second have to sober up before driving home.

The point is that people who WANT to drink, do. Those 35-50 year olds who are sober at the game currently aren't the ones that we would need to worry about, safety-wise. If they're content drinking a few drinks throughout the day and not bringing anything in for the game, they are likely either going to not even buy anything inside anyway, or buy a couple beers. Those people don't really factor into the equation.

The biggest fear I think most suits have is that half the stadium woudl be falling down blackout drunk. But my point is that the people who desire to get that way, and want to get blackout drunk during the games, will already do that anyway.

Not necessarily. Students sneak in booze. Your 35-50 year old fans typically do not.

It's harder to bring alcohol into the student section than the regular sections at TS

I just think everyone has a right to drink alcohol if they shall choose.
Pro stadiums do it.

Why can't so many of you cretins attend an athletic event sober?

Why do yall have to "EXIT REALITY" in order to have a good time?

Don't understand this mentality.

Tejas just OKed it. coincidentally at the same time the state just OKed open carry of firearms, even on college campuses.

I wonder what the refs are gonna be thinking about during the game. "go ahead and call it a catch man, did you see that bubba in the second row? he looks pissed and in between beer chugging he keeps pulling his magnum and checking the loads."

have you ever drank? Drinking is fun as frick, so is watching football. Put them together it's even more fun. Why can't you let other adults make their own decisions and do what makes them happy?

Minority here but no. As a family man I am not a fan of drinks in the stands. Of the college games I have been to with no beer sales compared to the NFL games with beer sales there is no comparison. I have never been to a Chiefs games without seeing fights and other BS in the stands. I have never had that happen at a college game I have attended (obviously I am not a Gump). The tail gate drinking will continue and then people in the stands will just be more hammered.

I'm with you on this. Also...the ballgame allows many of those who over imbibed during pregame tailgating to sober up before the drive home.

Fewer fights in the stands, and fewer drunks on the road...sure, there will still be some of both, but less is better.

Allow alcohol and after 5 years of incidents, rival fan bases would have to be seated with police lines in between them

I usually bring whiskey or rum in for games. If I had a chance to just drink beer I would end up being more sober. If someone wants to drink they are going to find a way, might as well make money off of it. I've never seen a fight at a NFL game.

what do you think gets people more drunk...drinking light beers for 3 quarters or hard liquor for 4 quarters?

isn't college football famously more passionate and fanatical than NFL football outside of maybe the Raiders.

All of this. Not to mention, the people who really want to drink now have unfettered access to liquor right in there pocket with no waiting. Under the new system, people would still have to get up, fight the crowd, wait in line, pay, and return to their seat. It's not like at a bar where you can walk up to the bartender and slam beers for hours. You're going to have to WANT that beer to go through all that trouble. Most people probably won't buy but a few beers over the course of the game, compared to drinking as much liquor as they can fit on their person nowadays.

Eh don't care. I wouldn't buy $8 beers and wait in line. It's way easier to sneak in whisky and get a sprite before game starts to mix with.

Yes, it is much easier. But then there are people like me who get too out of hand when drinking liquor and would rather beer. It would be much more beneficial for me personally to pay $30 in the game for a few beers instead of drinking liquor. Not to mention, I wouldn't shotgun about 4 beers right before walking in the stadium if I knew I could buy a few while inside.
