I love the "special pressure" part. Because the folks in Texas would be perfectly happy paying him a huge salary to NOT win national championships. He could just take it easy with no expectations to live up to...

This. They will expect him to win, and win big. Immediately. They will expect that highly paid sumbitch to deliver 3 out of four.

If it's pressure, he retires. Period.

As to "loyalty." Is Saban loyal? Hell no. But this is what matters to him now: legacy. He's said it. As of 7 years ago his legacy was shite. The longer he stays and wins at Bama, his legacy improves.

If he moves again, he hits the reset button.

The only explanation to move to Texas would be money. Every other move has been understood. All the way up to and through LSU to the Dolphins. Even the Bama move--he didn't like the NFL.

What's the reason to go to UT, other than money, at age 62, when you've built a powerhouse?

It wouldn't look good, and he would have no second chances.

If there's pressure, it's entirely self imposed. HE brought "the process." HE sets the "standard of excellence."
Read the article, he said "SPECIAL" pressure. He's obviously referring to the fan base, which most are; in a short bus kind of way.

The man could go without anything like the success he's already enjoyed and he'd remain a God in T-Town long after he decided to retire.

Bama fans would turn on him faster than any fanbase in the nation no matter what he did. I don't know if he would leave but he knows Bama fans expect what he has done the last 4 years and that those expectation are unusually high. He has no where to go but down at Bama and that won't end well. At UT he would be able to slide for awhile or until he could get them winning and possibly get another NC, at another school, in a easier conference. And if he enjoys building up a school that he can win at then he has to be bored at Bama right now.

You're an idiot. Saban will be employed by Bama for life.

The fanbase didn't wan't Gene Stallings to retire in 1996. Four years after he won the title, and four years after he won the SEC.

Stallings didn't leave because of the fans--he left because of the administration.

You don't give the fanbase enough credit. Stallings was beloved.

Gumps shouldn't be surprised if he bolts

He is not "loyal" to any one program or person except HIS process and HIMself

Not mad. He's an amazing coach. Easily one of the GOAT. Just stating the facts.

If he started going 8-5 every year they would push him into an office job in 3 years. There were fans whining in 2010 when he lost a few. Maybe your fans can't see how you act because you block it out but that is how yall act as a whole. Your next coach won't last 3 years because the bar Saban has set.

And Auburn would do something different? You axed a coach that won the title two years before.

They hypocrisy from the barn is actually unbelievable.

You ran off two of your best ever coaches after only a year or two of slipping (Dye and Tubberville).

I can only hope the Bama fans won't be as butt hurt as the LSU fans over his departure.
the only way that would happen is if Saban jumped ship to coach at Auburn or Tennessee

That's different from LSU->Dolphins->Alabama

1) he didn't jump ship from LSU->Bama
2) Auburn and Tennessee are rivals. LSU doesn't have a rival.

We fired a coach who sucked before and showed it was Gus that won him games. We had our second worst year as a school and shouldn't have. But we would be more slacked about Chizik if he had won 3 NCs in 4 years and went 8-5 for at least about 5 years before we would fire him. We held onto TT for a while and he never won a NC, though he should have, before we fired him for not being able to get over the hump again.

I get why you fired Tubberville. I get why you fired Chizik.

I suppose I get why you pushed out Pat Dye.

But you guys are in NO position to point fingers about hiring and firing practices of any other school.

Anybody is in a better position to point fingers at bama for its "Hiring" practices.

If Texas outbids the gumps not a single person outside of bama will be surprised by $abun leaving.

I will be thrilled even if he stays and arse rapes bama for a huge raise. It will prove he's all about the money and that Alabama coaching job is not all that great.

IDGAF. I'm pretty sure we can find someone better than Les Miles. But when you stink of corn dog, you have to settle for what you can get.

This is a different animal than it was when we had to settle for the likes of Mike Shula.
