What LSU fans need to be ready for is the fact that Jimbos teams play down to their competition often. He is going to lose a game or two per season that he should win. It may be more fun to watch, but the end results will be similar to Miles.

You realize Miles was about to slip below .500 in SEC play over the last 4 seasons right?

He's not a bad coach, but I wouldn't put him in with the 'really good - to - great coaches' either.

The guy's teams have shown just as much of a tendency to fall short of expectations as Dabo's teams...yet with generally better talent.

What is it about him that I'm missing?

I agree. Not greatly impressed with him. Is he any better than Miles? He seems to have off-the-field issues with his players as well.

Here's the thing with Herman, though.

I agree he looks like a superstar. But he only has 2 years HC experience, and it's at Houston. They've been sensational, but he inherited most of that team with a few exceptions that have contributed this year.

quote:

I don't know how he recruits, but I would guess pretty well considering he comes from Ohio State and Urban Meyer's system, whereas Jimbo is known to be a master recruiter. Plus he has P5 experience at a program with lofty expectations.

Without comparing the jobs because they aren't really the same, do you want to roll the dice on someone not being at the helm of a premier program? I don't know that I would if I knew I could get a guy who's been there and done that before.

Yes, I would roll the dice with Herman over Fisher.

You should actually look up what some coaches are making these days. $7 mil is soon to be the going rate for an average coach.

I've also yet to see you mention who's better, and please don't say Herman.

What about Bobby Petrino? He could kick start that offense.

Personally, I'd rather not have that POS. His buyout is also insanely high I think.

Also, I don't see any reason to say he's better than Jimbo. He doesn't even have a P5 conference title.

Make an offer to Dabo. He already has all the Tiger paraphenalia. Seriously, it may be a good year to make an offer for him if interested. He is losing a lot of talent after this year. Might be tempting to follow DeShaun out the door.

The reality is, the pool of coaches is not huge. Jimbo is probably the most qualified coach LSU could get and it would be considered a good hire.

You should look up Jimbo's buyout - $5M plus the $7M in salary, plus Les' buyout makes him big money for what I think is a crap shoot.

I don't know that Herman is better, or anyone else for that matter, but for that kind of money I would not bet on Jimbo to be the next Saban.

I'm fully aware of how the figures work. Much more than you, obviously.

So what do you think LSU should do then? Herman is making $2.8 at Houston. His next job will be $5+ mil, easy.

I swear, it's like some of you can't see further than the tip of your nose.

I'm not sure why Jimbo would leave FSU afor LSU. It's more or less a lateral move. And arguably a much easier job.

Deep down inside LSU fans want Fisher because they can't have CNS and fisher has coached with Saban. So basically they're hoping fisher is CNS v2.0.

Not sure how me quoting actual amounts makes you know more than me about the figures, but carry on with your lesson.

This is your fight. You have done nothing to prove Jimbo is the best coach in the nation other than offer opinion. I gave my opinion about his great performance in a so-so conference being a sham. I truly give no fricks who LSU hires, but this conversation makes me hope it burns to the ground like UT after Fulmer. The thing that will sting is Herman goes to Texas, Jimbo stays put, and LSU takes something further down the line or keeps Yaw Yaw and muddles through 3 more coaches after while you talk about how great Jimbo could have been at LSU.

What school doesn't want a NC winning HC?

So, you have nothing than " Jimbo isn't very good" and "Herman is better".

Solid contribution.

Apparently us LSU fans are just crazy for wanting the proven commodity and stupid for not drooling over the 2nd year HC.

What are we thinking?

Les Miles was 114-34 in a much tougher conference and y'all couldn't wait to run him out of town.

because there was no way he was going to replicate those results going forward based on his inability and refusal to adjust and adapt to the changing game of football. why is this so hard for people to understand?

Jimbo's best days are behind him. He has lost his balls.
