He's not a bad coach, but I wouldn't put him in with the 'really good - to - great coaches' either.

The guy's teams have shown just as much of a tendency to fall short of expectations as Dabo's teams...yet with generally better talent.

What is it about him that I'm missing?

Well we can't exactly get Saban or Meyer
He's the best candidate that's realistic at this point
Maybe Herman but I'm sure he'll be in Texas soon

Fair enough, but I'm surprised LSU fans would be OK with what he clearly brings to the table.

I agree with you. He is at the bottom of the Teir 1 platform in my book. I like Herman. Have since last year. O in a line coach plan and simple. I want Dave and PJ Fleck interviewed as well. I would like to test the waters with Josh McDaniels too.

Here's the thing with Herman, though.

I agree he looks like a superstar. But he only has 2 years HC experience, and it's at Houston. They've been sensational, but he inherited most of that team with a few exceptions that have contributed this year.

I don't know how he recruits, but I would guess pretty well considering he comes from Ohio State and Urban Meyer's system, whereas Jimbo is known to be a master recruiter. Plus he has P5 experience at a program with lofty expectations.

Without comparing the jobs because they aren't really the same, do you want to roll the dice on someone not being at the helm of a premier program? I don't know that I would if I knew I could get a guy who's been there and done that before.

Wait. Before now LSU fans were being told "Lol Jimbo isn't leaving FSU for LSU".. implying that Jimbo is a great coach and above LSUs station.

Why is this now changing?

Offensive minded coach who generally has good QBs, something we have lacked for almost 10 years. Pair him with a good DC and he can win big here.

After this coming Saturday they may not want Jimbo. Go Gators, beat them Semi-holes.

I feel like if you ask a question like this you need to provide coaches that you believe are realistic options and would be better hires

Actually I always thought this (And still do) because he is at a school where he is comfortable and will keep him as a long as he wants to be there. He is in a conference where there is very little competition. Why go to LSU where he will have to go head to head with Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia?

He's 76-17 at FSU, that's pretty damn good.

He's mostly been struggling defensively recently, which we have an elite DC right here waiting for him. The idea is he has a proven track record of not only winning, but with QBs. He's coached 3 1st round QBs in his rather short stint at FSU so far. This season is getting a lot out of a redshrit freshman QB too. He checks all boxes we're looking for in a new coach. Solves QB issues. Proven winner at HC level. Can recruit and has done so in this area. Won championships.

Honestly not sure what you're asking about. The only coaches with better resumes are Meyer and Saban and that isnt happening.

Les Miles was 114-34 in a much tougher conference and y'all couldn't wait to run him out of town.

I read an article that said the LSU list is something like:

1. Jimbo Fischer
2. Tom Herman
3. Brian Kelly, Orgeron etc.

That article said Fischer will stay in FSU and Herman would go to Texas and LSU would hire Brian Kelly.

One of these things is not like the others. Can you find it?

Because he is a competitor.

With this logic why would any coach want to coach in the SEC?

I highly doubt Kelly would be their third option in that case.

That would be a horrible fit.

Not sure if you are talking about Ole Miss or Georgia!

Ole Miss has been pretty tough the last couple of years, so I included them. And UGA, UT and FL. have all been down a bit...hopefully this will change.
