shite, we haven't scored a TD when the pressure is on since 2011

We gotta have someone take responsibility for the O. We must have an offensive minded ciach that can recruit and be held accountable for scoring a damn point

Art Briles? He's a better coach than any of the other "candidates" mentioned for the LSU job.

You watched the news lately, he knowingly tried to sweep rape under the rug.

Petrino is a raging lunatic a-hole, about like Kelly.

The slam dunks don't work out so great in the SEC, lets face it, Saban is beating the shite out of everybody.

Sadly that is all that LSU fans see, and they will be perpetually unhappy if that is their measuring stick.

But we gotta be able to do more against the UFs of the world than 10 points.

I personally am ok with giving Aranda a shot, I think his style will have long lasting success...but then you also have to hand the offense over to an OC...and that puts us back on the hiring and firing of OCs. If they are good, they will get hired as head coaches, if they are retreads and just suck, we gotta fire em.

LSU football is painful to watch on the offensive side, and that has to change.

Eli Manuel
Christian Ponder
Jameis Winston
Jamarcus Russell

All coached by Fisher, all coached up to be first round picks under Fisher.

One of 4 active CFB coaches to win a Natty. Three of which have also had Heisman players - not sure if Stoops has had a Heisman guy, did not look it up.

He's by far the best candidate we can realistically get. Plus we will totally overhaul the LSU offense which has been garbage forever here

What LSU fans need to be ready for is the fact that Jimbos teams play down to their competition often. He is going to lose a game or two per season that he should win. It may be more fun to watch, but the end results will be similar to Miles.

He's lost 3 games that he "shouldn't have" in the last 4 years. He also has a NC and another playoff appearance in those 4 years.

Every fan base except Ohio State and Alabama would happily take Jimbo as their head coach.

I can definitely see the draw for the QB recruiting/development that he brings with him. He does seem to lack on building a dynasty type program like Bowden, though. There may have been repeat appearances after 2013, but they were based more on weak conference wins and hype more than dominant play. No way he really compares to Saban or Meyer in a reload and make another run type program. HE is a good coach, but with a down UF he should have built a dynasty. That makes him a step up from unproven Herman, but not a lock. I know his buyout is $33M if he gets fired, what does it cost to steal him? Is it worth it? I don't see it.

I cannot imagine why he would leave the ACC top 2 to get involved in an SEC dog fight. He has the opportunity to win the ACC and almost guarantee a CFP spot. Clemson is coming on strong, but I don't believe in Dabo making it happen.

He's not a bad coach, but I wouldn't put him in with the 'really good - to - great coaches' either.

Who would you put ahead of him?

Saban, Urban and Harbaugh aren't coming to LSU.

Peterson isn't coming to LSU. Kelly isn't leaving the NFL (yet). Who does that leave?

So, he hasn't been able to do what only a handful have as a college head coach?

He's obviously just average.

I have no idea if Fisher ends up at LSU. If a 51 year old Fisher lands at LSU and manages to keep Aranda on the staff, alabama won't be marking an automatic "w" next to LSU on the November calendar.

This. We really don't have any better options. There are plenty options but most/all are way less desirable at this point. If we land Jimbo it wont look like we settled or were unsuccessful in our coaching search. He may not be a slam dunk massive upgrade that we all desire, but he would be a good, really good option.

He is above average but I said he was not a lock. Not like Saban or Meyer seem to be in comparable recruiting markets. In my opinion, He has had pretty free reign over FL recruiting and should be fielding better teams if he was truly elite. $33M is a big number to buy a coach who finished third in the ACC. Especially when LSU just dumped a coach with a record of 114-34 averaging 10 wins per year.

I am not sure what the answer is, but I don't think Jimbo is a ticket to the promised land.

He's won a national title and made the CFB playoff in the last 4 years. On top of that, he's amassed a 45-7 record over that time.

I'm not sure what coaches people think are actually available, but Jimbo is the best option and it really isn't close. There's also an easily made argument that he is the 3rd best coach in CFB right now.

I honestly don't know what to hope for.

I can see losing Aranda and his becoming a great head coach down the line. Yet he is not ready for the job now.

I can see Jimbo pretty much maintaining the win/loss ratio that Miles recorded, but is that an upgrade? does he have the energy to take it up a notch? I don't know, but he is the best resume of those available.

Fedora? Orgeron? Hermann? I don't know. There's no one out there that truly excites me. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Did you watch his team get slaughtered in the CFP in 2014 and Herman hand him his arse last year in the Peach Bowl? The weak arse ACC makes him look better than he is. I would not break the bank on him like I would Saban, Meyer, or an NFL guy.

He may be the best available, but not sure he is worth the asking price. It's an opinion and I don't care what LSU does. I expect things are going to get really exciting when Texas cuts Strong loose and the bidding begins on Herman, Saban, Jimbo, Kelly etc. All of Sexton's boys are gonna get raises and extensions.
