That's what everybody said about Bama before Saban arrived. The days of Bryant will never come back. Bear's been dead for 20 years. Alabama fans are delusional. And then Saban happened.

Bama fans are floating through uncharted territory and I'm just curious how y'all are handling it.
My honest opinion is I kind of checked out after last year's championship. It pretty much put the cherry on top of what Saban has done and anything else is gravy.
Wins and losses just don't bother me as much as they used to. I'm grateful to be able to see this, and just enjoy the football for what it is now.

Enjoying the ride baw.
When Saban retires Bama fans can do nothing but thank him for what he's done and accept whatever comes after him.
Haha don't think about him leaving really just riding with the high. Don't bring me down

Gonna make their fall all that more fun (at least that's what I keep telling myself).

Yes. I hope all our fans realize they won't see this again in their lifetime. Enjoy it while you can.

Ahh...the 1960's were pretty good...3 NC's, 70's were not bad...3 NC's.
This run is pretty amazing too...
BUT just so you know ...It's Alabama. .It'll never really be over. We may have a few down periods. But at the end of the day, dominating College Football is what we DO.

Meh, I was watching football in the 70s. It was pretty good then too.
I agree, it'd be hard to get better but we've had great times before. Wasn't around for the 60s but I know it was great.
Hell, We won a title in 92 that's kinda forgotten about.
Yes. Saban is amazing. It's why we hired him.
Saban also benefits from being at a program like Alabama.

They are very delusional and think it's the program and not the coach.

This was on Alabama radio this past week. As great as the Bear years were this is actually the golden age of Alabama football.

Of course it will be downhill.
There is nowhere to go but down from where we are.
Does that mean we fade back to 6-6? I'd say no because history tells us that our program is among the best in the country, but we will not continue at the current pace when Saban leaves. But becoming a 6-8 win program is possible if we make mistakes in terms of who we choose to replace him or whether or not we provide adequate support for that replacement.
What I do know is that we will be in an outstanding position to choose an elite coach who will have the best talent and resources to work with so its fair to expect to compete nationally.
My realistic hope is that when Saban retires we bring in Dabo or Jimbo and become a 10+ win program that contends most years, but doesn't win every year like we currently do and that while the talent gap we currently enjoy probably drops back to a more reasonable level, that we remain at least on par with the other elite teams nationally.

Will he? He seems to get angrier with each win and accomplishment. He gets no joy from any of it and does not need the money.
He can move wherever he wants and be a miserable little bastard without the pressure.
He could stay until he dies, leave at any time, or just implode.

We have no idea. Even though as a fanbase we love college football more than any other fanbase we don't really know football. Nope, we are dumb bro and expect to never lose a game.

We get subsidies from the NCAA.

I played juco baseball in the state of Alabama for two years, 01-03. A teammate of mine from Fairhope had an old man who was a fullback for Bama during the 70s. Sumbitch had as many rings to fit in both palms of his hands as Bill Russell from the Celtics. Bama has just always collected hardware in tackle football. I have just accepted the fact.

This is the only shot any of us will have in our lifetimes of seeing Bud Wilkinson's 47 game winning streak topped. If we win out and beat FSU to start 2017, the streak should get well into the thirties.
