Serious question: Do Bama fans realize this is as good as it will ever be?

Given that this dynasty is more or less unprecedented in the history of college football and is unlikely to be duplicated, has it dawned on you yet that this is pretty much the top of the mountain?
And when Saban eventually retires (be it next year or 10 years from now), that it's pretty much all down hill from here?
I'm just curious from a fan perspective if it feels as bittersweet as it looks or if it's like "nah, frick it, I'm enjoying the ride as long as it lasts." And what does this do for your expectations for the future? Have you already accepted that this level of success is untenable post-Saban or are you going to move forward expecting the next few coaches to match what Saban has built?

How is this a serious question?
Of course it's the best it can be because it can't be better. Our run will never be duplicated.
You're blessed to see the greatest dynasty of all time.

Yes. I'm tying to tell my kids, but they won't understand until it's too late. I'm enjoying every moment.

Climbing the mountain is as satisfying as being on top.
We'll have to adjust but eventually will.

Coach Bryant through the 70's was as good as I thought it could ever be. This is just remarkable.
Yes, we should enjoy it while it lasts because it will likely never be duplicated by anyone. Instead, many of us just obsess over every game and worry about losing.

Yes, of course. I'm trying to make the most because nothing lasts forever. But at the same time, you can't help feeling fortunate. No other fan base has ever or will ever get to experience this kind of run for a full 10 years.
That said, there's no reason Bama will not be able to remain an elite program after Saban is gone. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that they should still win some titles, just not at this frequency.

Bittersweet? Hell it's not over. Looks like Saban will be around a while.

Bama fans are floating through uncharted territory and I'm just curious how y'all are handling it.

It won't be downhill. Saban will leave us stocked and plenty of very good coaches will want the job.
We've had 5 different coaches win it all, and 4 of them won more than one national title.
Even some of our worst coaches won an SEC Title.

Alabama has an an ongoing 90+ year dynasty, so what makes you think it will end when Saban retires? When Wallace Wade left it was all down hill they said. When Frank Thomas left it was all down hill they said. When Bear Bryant left, blah blah blah.

Of course not, Bama will still be a power in some sense post-Saban. I guess I'm really wondering if there's going to be any lingering side effects from this kind of run that makes Bama fans always compare every season moving forward to this, something that honestly is unfair to compare anything else to (save UCLA's basketball run under Wooden).
I'm also curious if the recruiting and S&C can be maintained without Saban. That seems to be the engine that makes the whole Process run.

This Bama fan was really too young to remember the 1970's run.
I fully realize that what we're watching will likely never happen again. The thought of the talent level right now is just mind boggling.
Take Hump's and Hamilton's injuries. Just plug in another 5* and keep right on plugging.

Every Bama coach but Ears Whitworth has had at least one double-digit win season since Xen C. Scott (most underappreciated coach in Tide history) got the team's first one back in 1920.

It could be better. We haven't won it all every year.
Those of us who have been through the big highs and really lousy lows just know to appreciate it it when it's here.
And to talk as much smack as possible in the process.
So bow down peasants.

I'm old enough to remember most of Bryant's time at Alabama, so I know that though it isn't likely, it can be as good again, or arguably even better. I also am very aware that it isn't realistic to think it will be, and you best enjoy it while it lasts, and that's exactly what I'm doing. I honestly never thought it would be like this again.

We are just living the dream. Who knows what's next but right now is great. I thought we would never see it again after coach Bryant but here we are with Saban. Who knows what lies ahead but right now is spectacular!

Nick Saban has changed the culture and mindset of Alabama football. He did it from within. And that in itself will linger long after he leaves.
The process will continue, the wins may not be as frequent but the road to get there is paved.

Saban is a once in a generation Coach. There may be a 25 year gap before another massive run of success.
In the meantime, Alabama should expect a coach that can deliver nothing less than more SEC Championships than any other program over any given 5-7 year period and a Natty once a decade.
As far as how it feels right now, I'm just enjoying the ride. After sitting through the Dubose and Shula years, this is pure bliss.
