Well, Bama is now on the board. At least we won't get blanked. That would be embarrassing to put up a goose egg on the biggest stage.

Jefferswag will respond well. Just watch.

LSU's d did play admirably. I've said it for awhile. Bama was a more complete team. LSU was one piece short of what they needed to beat Bama. People say LSU should have played Lee. I say it wouldn't have made a ball hair worth of difference. LSU didn't have the QB to beat Bama on their roster. LSU needed a competent QB and both Lee and Jeffersom both showed they were not. Bama got AJ to play incredibly efficiently and eventually LSU's d couldn't hold on anymore.

As much as it hurts to say LSU wasn't as good as Bama and it was because they were better than us at the most important position. It can be debated whether Bama deserved a second chance but Bama was better that night.

Espn wanted the game to blow up the. BCS. If was not the "contract year" OSU would have been in.

It worked, now Espn is broadcasting the playoff games.

LSU wins big. Bama's fat linebackers don't have a prayer against Jordan Jefferson.

I will always wonder how close the game would've been if JJ hadn't just blatantly thrown the game to make up for his huge debts he incrued the night before at the craps table.

Worst part of this game is LSU's D held on so well that you couldn't turn it off. All the way to the 4th when Jefferson missed a wide open landry. If LSU makes that play it's a one possession game so you had to keep watching until Trent scored.

Saban is a straight up gambler in respects to special teams.

It's so clear now.

I didn't expect many legitimate posts in this thread, but I pretty much agree with this one. I think Alabama was the better team in 2011, despite the loss, and it was mostly due to the qb. Those were two of the best defenses in the history of cfb. Most starters are somewhere on an NFL roster now.

I wish the game thread from the TD Score Board was still around. That thread was a goldmine.

This is so true. The first five scores were Bama FGs. I'm sitting in the Dome hoping for one break offensively. But no, Jordan Jefferson prevented that.

What kills me is that maybe they did have that QB on the roster, but he was the third stringer.

And before you say "Mett wasn't that good before Cam Cameron", while it's true that he did improve tremendously because of CCC, remember that he torched Bama in 2012 with Stud still at OC.

I completely reject the conclusive nature of this statement. LSU BEAT Bama earlier that year with both of those quarterbacks. Lee outshone Jefferson in 2011 easily. The offense was efficient and balanced with Lee in 2011. He struggled early against Bama during the regular season but he's also showed up big to bail Jefferson out in numerous games where our offense was stagnant, particularly in previous years.

Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference, but to dismiss it is ridiculous and comes across as excusing the horrendous in-game coaching and gameplanning. There is NO excuse for the offensive performance in that game and it stemmed from the QB. That QB stayed in for the ENTIRETY of the game.

Bama had 15 points until that Richardson touchdown in the fourth, and that was with LSU going three and out constantly, turning the ball over, and giving Bama good field position and allowing them to own the TOP and wear out our defense. Any offensive spark in that game could have proved significant.

I know this is a joke but something had to have happened to that LSU team the time between the SEC championship and the National Championship. Not to take anything away from Alabama, they played outstanding. But the way LSU's offense just seemed to never play together and Miles outright refusing to put Lee in at any point smells fishy to me.

The offense after Bama Part 1 was atrocious. Miles decided to go with Jefferson. Look at the Arkansas game - down 0-14 until Mathieu returns a punt. Against Georgia - down early then poured it on. They got worse.

Yes LSU did beat Bama the first time. Saban wasn't motivating a team that lost at home the first time. Plus he had much longer to prepare. And Lee was god awful his whole career vs Bama save one throw.

Here you go.

Edit: The Jefferson pass (you know the one) starts on page 48.

Is there any reason he refused to play Lee? Because the offense was a considerable amount better with him in the game. He had a bad game against Bama and Miles never gave him another chance.

Some say Lee checked out after the first game. Some say Les just like Jefferson. Who knows.
