I understand Florida but what makes LSU eligible? They finished behind Arkansas and Ole Miss in standings. Even in overall they are still behind Ole Miss.

Florida vs Ohio State could be interesting too, if it could work out that way.

Yes- both those ex coach games would provide interest for viewers.

Do it do it do it do it bowl people.

Oh god, playing Louisville would be amazing.

I actually like Petrino and would rather there not be any bad blood between him and us. Texas Tech is who Bielema should be sailing on to get a bowl match up. Their coach would have too much pride to not respond and we'd beat them down by 30 the next go around. I'd much rather have a redemption win than another against an average at best team in Louisville.

They wouldn't pit UGA against VT would they? 2 coaches coaching their last game.

The conference will assign teams to the respective bowls in this pool

Typically, you don't punish teams that much for losing in a conference championship. If Alabama demolishes Florida, I think the SEC will take in considerations injuries (or Grier's Suspension) to make a better match-up. LSU also beat Florida in the Head to Head match-up. In this case, Rankings will trump standings.

Florida vs Northwestern (Outback Bowl) is my guess

I don't hate Petrino either but I don't yearn for him back or anything (not saying you do just explaining me). We got Texas last year which added to the delight so I just hope we get something to make it intriguing so Tech would work for me as well. Would they match us up again since we played? Do they do that (aside from LSU bama years back)?

most of the time, bowls will try not to pair up teams that played in the regular season.

But, there are few exceptions.

and whoever said, "To maximize viewership or ratings" I call crap on this.

TAMU going to the Liberty did not maximize ratings against WV... and the ticket sales were terrible.

Miss State going orange over Cotton was also not maximizing ratings, and the ticket sales were terrible.

Tamu would have been better in a texas bowl and Miss State in Cotton for fans and matchups. JMHO of course..

The AutoZone Liberty Bowl between Texas A&M and West Virginia drew 3.3 million viewers on ESPN, making it the most-watched Liberty Bowl in four seasons.

Terrible ticket sales =/= Terrible ratings. Those two games had some of the best Liberty Bowl ratings ever. Also, we are talking about bowls that don't matter. New years 6 bowls and Tier 1 bowls are chosen based on field performance. They select the best teams for those bowls.

In non playoff years, The Orange bowl will only select a SEC or Big Ten team, or Notre Dame. Miss St had no choice but to go to the Orange bowl and face Gatech. The College Football committee & conference contracts determines New Year's bowl participants.

The Arkansas/Texas Texas Bowl drew 5.8 million viewers on ESPN Monday night That is the largest audience in Texas Bowl history.

Also, There were a lot of rumors surrounding Texas and Texas A&M not wanting to play each other in a bowl game. They are still bitter about the divorce. I wish they would hurry up and get over it.

If your speaking to me, I most certainly do. Considering it is my job to work with several of them directly.

but, I misspoke... True about ratings, but not attendance. If it is about tv ratings and not fan turnout or ticket sales, I suppose the climate has changed a bit with ESPN $$$.

But the orange bowl tix last year were selling aftermarket for as little as 15bucks for tix costing much more. Crazy times indeed.

Wrong, there is no "qualification" needed-- that's only for the Sugar bowl. The Citrus bowl can choose who they want. And an Arkansas team with an exciting offense is a much better pick than a Florida team with no QB and two blowout losses to close the season. Also bowls want to sell hotel rooms and restaurant meals.

I cannot find anything stating that the The Citrus Bowl committee is contractually obligated to take the highest ranked SEC vs Big/ACC team available after the New Year's Bowls participants are selected. Its possible they select the Next highest SEC/Big10 because they want to. I'm sorry

However, you pigges are just trolling. Everything on the Citrus Bowl website and twitter account says they will selected the next highest SEC and Big 10 teams available.
