One of these pods is not like the others...

1) 1 traditional CFB power, 3 pretty goods
2) 1.5 traditional CFB powers, .5 pretty goods, 2 awful
3) 2 traditional CFB powers, 2 alrights
4) 3 traditional CFB powers, 1 alright

Where's the parity?

We would never in a pod without Ole Miss.

Wherever we go Ole Miss would have to come as well.

I have posted this before (in reference to the ACC & Big 12 suing the NCAA for autonomy), so this is a cut and paste from one of my own posts

this is what I would do if i woke up as the SEC Commish tomorrow morning:

Permanent Opponents:
Alabama: Tenn ~ AU ~ MS St ~ LSU
Auburn: Bama ~ UGA ~ UF ~ Tenn
Arkansas: LSU ~ Mizou ~ aTm ~ KY
Florida: UGA ~ AU ~ Tenn ~ SC
Georgia: UF ~ AU ~ SC ~ Vandy
Kentucky: MS St ~ Vandy ~ Mizzou ~ Arky
Louisiana State: aTm ~ Arky ~ Ole Miss ~ Bama
Mississippi: LSU ~ MS St ~ Vandy ~ SC
Mississippi State: Ole Miss ~ Bama ~ KY ~ aTm
Missouri: Arky ~ KY ~ aTm ~ SC
South Carolina: UGA ~ UF ~ Ole Miss ~ Mizzou
Tennessee: UF ~ Bama ~ Auburn ~ Vandy
Texas A & M: LSU ~ Arky ~ Mizzou ~ MS St
Vanderbilt: Tenn ~ KY ~ Ole Miss ~ UGA

There's a similar idea out there (I think it's called the roommate switch, but I cna't remember if that's a different one) where basically all 14 teams have 3 permanent SEC rivals and you rotate everyone else. No divisions, just your 3 perms and 5 rotations every year. I would love it.

You can't break up the triad of UK / UT / VU that drives a lot of live ticket sales between schools in all sports. VU's #1 WBB ticket is UT, followed by UK as #2. Not sure any other triad does the same across all sports the same way.

Substitute UT for MU for UK and that might fly but I still see a 3 div and 1 cross working best but that would knock out state for AR and MU gets swapped for UGA because of the history or Cocks if you are looking for potential rivalries.

Plus Tennessee-Auburn doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Kentucky-Tennessee is one of the oldest series in football. Leave it be.

we will never get something that everyone is 100% happy with and the divisions suck

and this is football only, when the divisions started we had 2 cross division games, mainly so that AU could keep UF

Giving UT 2 of the traditionally weakest football schools as perm rivals just does not feel right, it would not affect any other sport

Yeah but the real rivalries cross all sports. If UK, UT, and VU account for 2 of the 4 then you just have to figure out the other two

UK/UT/VU + ? + ?
UK/UT/VU + ? + ?
UK/UT/VU + ? + ?

I like the divisions, but it's true that we'll never make everyone 100% happy. Now the question is do we want them 80% happy, 50.946% happy or how much?

After all the changes we've seen in CFB, I think it's time we stop trying to please everyone and just create the best possible setup for the conference going forward. I realize the SEC hasn't always had fair scheduling in the past, but I absolutely detest the idea of not playing everyone with some sort of regularity.

If you win your conference, it should be because you're the best team and not because you never play the team that was really the best. That's happened in the SEC before 1992 and it happens elsewhere today. The championship game prevents that from happening, and if that's not important, then why have a conference at all?

When Arkansas wins it's first SEC title, I want it to be because we beat the best team and not due to a loophole in scheduling, like the one that has allowed Wisconsin to win the B1G so often.
