because Herschel was faster than Bo

I'd say that's a small part of being athletic, so it should count when comparing athletes who run fast for a living, I would think

quote:

played one sport instead of two

??

Bo played football and baseball.

Herschel played football, won an Olympic gold medal in bobsledding, set a world sprinting record, is a 7th degree blackbelt, and is undefeated in his mma career.

Unless you're making the point that only NFL/MLB/NBA/NHL count as official sports, which is stupid.

quote:

played that sport longer than Bo because of an injury

Well, yeah I'd say that's part of it. Herschel ran the ball against clemson with a broken thumb in 81. He separated his shoulder in teh national title game, popped it back into place at halftime, and singlehandedly won the title for us. Our passing stats that game? 1 for 13, 7 yards. Herschel stats= 150 yards and 2 TDs (off the record). Bo took himself out of games.

quote:

Shiny hook got me.

I'd say being an idiot got a hold of you first.

I see as of my post we have 59 morons.

No person who has ever looked at any meaningful stats can ever state Bo was better than Herschel.

we didn't play miss. state, bama, or LSU in 80-82, so I can at least KINDA see why fans of those schools would say bo..simply because they might have watched bo in person with their own eyeballs but didn't for herschel.

I think an interesting question (which on an internet message board like this would could never and would never get actual, real responses) woudl be to ask people who actually saw both of them play who they'd pick. And I'm pretty sure I know who would win.

Bo Jackson wasn't even the greatest two sport athlete of his Era. That was Deion Sanders.

Bo is the greatest MARKETED athlete of all time. His commercial prowess far exceeded his actual accomplishments.

Yeah, who needs a Heisman Trophy, or even Pro Bowl appearances...MLB All-Star game appearances are worthless as well.

deion couldn't carry bo's jockstrap ...

i've always given the nod to bo since he played and excelled at football and baseball ... he always started off very hot in baseball before cooling off, but he always went a little deeper into the season before cooling off ... and he could hit and run ... baseball and football are two uniquely different sports, so the claims of walker's bobsledding (he pushed the freaking cart, which is not some overly complicated physical act) or mma record don't impress me as much as bo's ability to play baseball ... bo could've become a blackbelt or pushed a bobsled or fought people ... i'm not sure hw could hit a baseball with any degree of success ...

Agreed. Now, Bo was good, but I'm telling some of you that didn't get to see either play that Herschel was a freaking man among boys. That bastard would run you over or by you. I've still haven't seen a college RB that compares to Herschel.

Pro Bowl appearances are nothing more than popularity contests, much as MLB All-Star games are.

I can name you players who have more of both that you'll never have heard of.

And Herschel has a Heisman too.

Fun facts.

Number of categories Bo Jackson ever lead the league in, either baseball, or football?

Best I can tell from reference.com One, in 1989.....strikeouts.

I like to call Bo the greatest that never was.

Not everything is about Bama, you pretentious, self-obsessed fricks. Herschel and Bo are the top 2 SEC running backs all time in the SEC to this point.

Now, yes.

Then, no. Then, it was a good way to measure a player's career.
