Bo- and I don't think it's as close as it's portrayed to be.

Wasn't alive back then..I would really like a breakdown of these two greats from those who saw them play

Bo was a better Nike pitchman. I'll give him that.

You're going to get many down votes for bringing up the topic anyway

It still amazes me that neither one had a stand out pro career. I know Bo was more interested in baseball, but still.

Herschel was probably a better pure running back, Bo was the better athlete.

USFL decision killed a lot of the prime of Herschel's career. Still was (not sure if he still is) in the top 10 of NFL career all-purpose yards and set the professional football single season rushing record while in the USFL.
Unfortunately he's most well-known for being the main part of one of the worst trades in the history of pro sports.

Glad you said "pro" and not NFL, because herschel had a magnificent pro career. His professional APY dwarf water payton's, he still holds at least 1 NFL record that I can think of, and was a pretty darn servicable back for most of his NFL career.
The biggest damper on his post-UGA career that people seem to overlook is that he spent the absolute prime of his playing career in a league that nobody remembers. He left UGA after 3 years and played there for idk but I think roughly 4 or 5 yeras....so he basically spent age 21-25 in a league that essentially "doesnt' count".
Take away age 21-25 for AP, emmitt, barry sanders, or any of the great ones and their numbers don't look as hot either.

Was choosing between the USFL and the NFL really that difficult of a decision to make then?
