That delay of game call against Auburn killed that drive and definitely had an impact on the game. After the ref marked the ball ready for play Auburn had 2 seconds to snap. I agree that holding routinely goes uncalled and not just against your superstar.

What's the over/under on the number of threads with this theme the day after Alabama/LSU game?

That depends on if LSU is within striking distance or if it's a 21-0 beatdown.

Or if Ritter is involved

Please describe the position of the dude's facemask:

Also, here's the other part of the rule:

quote:

Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area

We can see from the clips that the guy clearly lead with his head, regardless of whether or not you want to argue it wasn't with the crown (it clearly was). And first contact was clearly with the head/neck area of hurts.

Blown call. One of two egregious blown calls on that same play.

Facemask into the chest. This is much ado about nothing.

If you're right the defender will be suspended for his next game during the week. If you're wrong he wont be.

Or they could just protect their own and back the on field call.

No. His facemask is "down," just as you described, and the crown of his helmet is making contact with the side of Hurts' chin. Watch the clip and look at the picture. It's not that hard.

My point is that the contact was not initiated with the crown of the helmet but with the forward portion/facemask. It was called correctly this time. They call it wrong on the field more often than not.. which is why they had to implement replay to determine if the ejection stood.

It should be a review-only penalty tbh

His facemask was the last thing to hit anything.

No

We'll see this week when the defender is either suspended (and I am wrong) or he isn't (and I am right)

You are just trolling at this point, because we can't possibly be looking at the same hit.

Where are you seeing that or how are you deducing that from the video/pics? The back of the dude's helmet is parallel with his own back, which means his facemask is down and his crown is leading. Are you just trolling at this point?

I wish we could go back to the good old days when this play was called what it actually is......great football.
