Hurts wasn't targeting he wasn't defenseless and the hit wasn't initiated with the crown of the helmet. There are two rules: one protects defenseless players; one protects all players. Neither occurred.
Now if the refs were truly for Bama they would have still thrown a flag for that play now wouldn't they? Especially considering that play led to Bama being down by 3 TDs.

On the strange unnecessary roughness call.. it probably shouldn't have been flagged at all.

Literally no calls went in Bama's favor. All calls favorited Ole Miss. Who blocked in the back on the punt return and bogus roughing the passer and pass interference on Bama.

He was actually trying to catch him after he ran into him. He fell on top of him didn't hit him at all lol.

Hurts fumble reversal was not in Bama's favor?? It was the right call but the call was a reversal and therefore in Bama's favor and that was a big one...

Are you shitting me? The first point of contact was the crown of the defender's helmet to the facemask
There is an obvious and distinct difference between leading with the crown (or initiating contact with the crown) and the crown touching the facemask. Reality is that the hit was damn near perfect and the defenders face was put in the QBs chest.
Not an illegal hit.

Every fan considers their conference's officials terrible.
PAC officials are supposed to be the worst.

Yeah, that picture clearly shows that he nailed the head first. Clear penalty.

An L5U fan being a big baby about officiating.
Something new and different.

That Plains are Burning again and TutHill is ranting about refs at 2 am? Tut should be cranking a meeting with his old ATPB crew.

No. Hurts was not a defenseless player and contact was not initiated with the crown of the helmet. See 9-1-3 and 9-1-4 in the rulebook.
The rule is split into two:
1) Targeting and making Forcible Contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless player
2) Targeting and making Forcible contact with the crown of the helmet

contact was not initiated with the crown of the helmet

The dude lowered his helmet and lead with the crown of his head. Textbook.
Defender initiated contact with the front portion of his helmet and not the crown. Makes it legal.
The rule is to prevent hits like this. Facemask down = flag. Otherwise = no flag

There is no penalty for hitting a QB in the head unless he is defenseless or contact is initiated with the crown of the helmet.

Defender initiated contact with the front portion of his helmet and not the crown. Makes it legal.

or contact is initiated with the crown of the helmet.
Come on, you're better than this.

Not even close. Called correctly on the field. Player will be suspended for the next game (all hits like this are reviewed) if you are correct.
I guess we will see in a few days eh?
