Sec chant was on a promotional video they showed.

i'm interested to see what other complimentary programs they will include...i.e. SEC recruiting and possibly live high school football on Fridays. this is what created an uproar w/ UTx, but would work to the SEC's advantage... especially putting a freeze FSU, Clemson and GT that compete head to head w/ SEC schools for recruits.
They said on ESPN additional programs would include recruiting specials on signing day, pro-days, SEC draft coverage, recruiting shows, a ESPNU type sportscenter and ESPN storied programming.
Also additional sports will be broadcasted, the 17 that no one likes to admit exist at times.
It didn't sound like it would be "football only", think more of ESPNU but SEC only.

Not quite. What created an uproar was the network's vice president blurting out that they were going to use the channel as a RECRUITING TOOL, broadcasting games exclusively to showcase Longhorn commits...even those out of state.
that's what I meant. when recruits are driven to the network to watch their clips, see their games and hear their names, it will obviously create an advantage for the SEC schools. for UTx, they wanted it all to themselves. but collectively for a conference, it makes sense to help your recruiting against non-SEC schools.

What question did Clay Travis ask?

I doubt HS sports is even going to get thought about. It was only tried on the LHN because they seriously lack content. We have 14X their content from day one so I really don't think we're going to have the same issue.
I will be curious if the SEC network tries to get bowl games though. With all our bowl games being up for bid, I wonder if we won't do something like that. Put the MBVA Compass Bowl or something on SEC Network. Why not? ESPN owns them all now.

There was no mention of broadcasting HS games.
It was like 45 football games.
100 basketball. 40 women's.
75 baseball games.
and 30 (or so) events selected from the other 17 sports (track, softball and tennis probably).
The rest of the time was said to be filled with "original programming", nothing about airing HS games.

and because they thought that the UIL operating out of their campus gave them a loophole to bypass the NCAA.

I still can't believe they wouldn't give any details on how the ownership was divided for the channel. I understand (to an extent) not giving specific revenue estimates, but I don't see why they wouldn't want to give a breakdown of who actually will have ownership on the network. I'm starting to get a little concerned that ESPN will have full ownership. That is the only reason I can think of as to why they (especially the SEC) didn't want to discuss it.

I think he asked about the ownership of the network.

i would imagine that ESPN has a nondisclosure clause because they have to negotiate w/ other conferences

Good point. No reason (for ESPN) to rub it in the ACC's face how much less their network will make than the SEC.

I'm concerned about the ownership/control of this.
Also concerned about the length of the contract. No one has any idea what the market will look like in 20 years...that is a long time to be locked in to any kind of deal...

Probably... but we have public universities that will report the income. If they don't tell us now, we will know when the checks come in.

Maybe they'll add in coverage of SEC BeachFest

Maybe, but having Vanderbilt in the conference shields the conference as a whole from FOIA.
