just marking this post so hopefully maybe I can pull it out for you next year when you are going through inexperienced QB problems like we are.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but Bama hasn't won anything yet. They have a good regular season record and very little to show for it. Not trying to flame here but the point of spending so much money and being an elite team is winning championships. Not losing in conference championship games and to the Utah's of this world. If this is your idea of stability then Bama is #3 at best.

LSU is just as much of a player as UF and Bama right now.

How long did it take to convince yourself that this is true? I have not watched one LSU game this year where they have overly impressed me. Every single time I watch Alabama play they impress me. Every time I've watched Florida play I haven't had a doubt in my mind that they were going to win.

Being impressed or not is a personal preference. I haven't been impressed by Florida except for the KY game. Texas hasn't impressed me either. And yet they're top 2/3 right now.

even though this is entirely besides the point.

he's had TWO frikkin seasons here. i'd say there's a big change from going to the weedeater bowl to a BCS bowl game and the SEC championship game is a pretty big statement of progress... not to be a broken record as well. you probably won't be able to say that at the end of this year either.

No, it isn't. The landscape does not change until new champions are crowned. The last few yrs, it's been either Florida or LSU winning the SEC and this is yet to change. Stability at #1 requires you to be consistently the best.

No doubt. Bama has progressed. But this does not reflect stability. Once you win out and are consistenly competing, you will be stable. Right now, you're just consistenly competing which is great but not #1 worthy.

You can check my post history - I don't flame around here and this wasn't meant to be one. Go ahead and bash LSU if it makes you feel better.

First as a long long time Bama fan Most Fans would not be calling for Saban's head if say he lost 3 or 4 games.

Yea we're spoiled like LSU and Gaytor Fans as well. But we were sunk in below average status for many years before Saban arrived.

We're just excited we've become a possible winner of the NC if we win out. This was un-thinkable before Saban arrived from 1992 until he arrived.

I didn't take it as a flame and I wasn't flaming either.
You just have yourself ranked #1 for the next 3-5 years and until proven otherwise UF is #1.
Still not flaming.

i don't know how you deduced that i was bashing LSU at all. but landscapes change when expectations aren't met. landscapes change when coaching changes happen.

what DOES reflect stability is our coaching staff, our recruiting, and our ability to put that talent on the field and use it properly. we're an utter upward trend, no matter how you look at it... UNLESS you use the Saban no longer than 5 years at any school logic... which is fair, but most people, not just Bama fans tend to believe Saban is gonna stick around here.

but then again, we're pretty much limiting our conversation to ONLY Alabama for some reason.

i'm talking about stability... not as in national ranking or position in the harris poll.

You left out winning conferences. A top 5 team should be winning their conference every other year with an NC every few years. If you win this year, I will rest my case.

The OP has Bama at #1 which I disagree with.

If you are going to argue semantics, then alter my wording however you please, because my message was clear in intent. Alabama and Florida are, in the grand scheme of things, far more inclined to be "contenders" than LSU is this year.

I think soo too and plus Miles is not going anywhere this year anyway.

I don't consider 10-2 THIS year to be underachieving given the amount of young players we have at key roles.

It will be an excellent year and yes we will go to a major bowl if that happens.

He can recruit, no doubt. But I just don't feel fully confident in him. The good thing is this: IF things go south quickly

I always questioned Miles' ability to be an effective game day coach. In 2007 gotta give the Mad hater credit he took chances and we won the national title, but last year was a complete goat frick in terms of an entire season. I just hope not for a repeat of last year. If it does he will be on the hot seat next year and will have to take lsu to atlanta next year if we lay an egg like last year.

LSU is probably the most ideal coaching job in the conference with florida slightly head of us. We have some of the best facilities in the conference, an entire state to ourselves, the 4th largest city 4 hours away that has a vocal lsu alumni base, the weather is warm year around, a big stadium that can be expanded, and most of our games are on TV. Miles knows this is a sweetheart deal he just needs to take corrective actions on the offensive side of the ball and we will be fine.

I agree with this. Florida (06-08) is currently #1 in this category with LSU (03-07) at second. I don't think Bama is far behind but they must start winning SEC and Natl Champ before being considered #1.
