Bama is clearly the best team in the SEC, but bama will be in a dog fight at least once this year

We'll be in lots of them. If we are starting a freshman QB in Oxford, Fayetteville, Knoxville and Baton Rouge we are guaranteed to have at least one (probably more) clunker performance on offense.

No, but what I got out of Saturday was that there is Bama and a bunch of also rans in the SEC this year. That is what makes me sad.

Bama is REALLY good no doubt and will get even better... With that said, I think that the other SEC teams will pick it up... Unfortunately lots of talking heads are overreacting just a little IMO by anointing Bama and dismissing other SEC teams..

I was at the Bama/USC game and Bama has MANY holes, albeit fixable holes but holes nonetheless. LSU's and Auburn's defense are legit and if their offenses become somewhat competent, the SEC west will become interesting REAL QUICK!!

Yeah, I'm disappointed but after a couple of days to process it all, I'm not ready to hit the panic button just yet (unlike a lot of my fellow Tiger fans ).

Bama is clearly the cream of the SEC crop.

Judging the other games objectively (including ours):
LSU-Wisconsin and North Carolina-Georgia were similar matchups, regardless of rankings. I'd say Wisky would be a solid matchup for UNC. And to further compare those 2 games, LSU had to go play in enemy territory, while Georgia got a game in their home state. I think it gives you a little more margin for error to not have to play a true "road" game, which it was for both out-of-state teams.
Before we write anyone off, let's see if there's improvement from game 1 to the second game.

Regarding A&M, they always seem to start ahead of the curve on offense, and settle back in as the season progresses. They stomped Arizona St in a worse manner. And UCLA seems to be the type of team that performs well as an underdog, but underperforms when ranked (remember how terrible they looked vs Virginia a couple of years ago). So again, lets see how things look at week 6.

There is no way on God's green earth anyone can say right now today that Wisconsin is not a good football team. None of us know that and that is a stupid arse thought.

It's going to be absolutely hilarious if Wisconsin is actually very good and makes a play for the big 10 championship this year.

We would have. We are horrible against pure spread teams and have bee., See Toledo, Texas Tech, and A&M. Anyone who runs a hurry up quick pass offense gives Arkansas fits.

Could be but we had zero excuses for losing to them.

If you're trying to say Wisconsin is a good team, then I agree with you.

The rankings (or lack of them, in Wisky's case) were a joke. This is a program that went 11-3 last season, consistently goes to bowls (including beating Auburn in one), played Alabama about as well as anyone else has recently (35-17 last season, not great but not scorched-earth bad like USC Saturday), returned 7 starters on both offense and defense, and was playing in the NFL stadium in their home state.

This would be basically the same as taking LSU (similar record, similar returning starters), making them unranked instead of #5, and putting them in the Superdome vs a ranked team. And then acting shocked if the Tigers hung around, or God forbid, actually won.

Let them laugh, some of them will not be laughing as the season goes on

As a poor kid my grandma used to say" it's ok if they laugh at you, you are paying the price so they do not make fun of someone else and remember you will get the last laugh- their day is coming"

No team was probably as good or as bad as they looked this weekend. It was the 1st game for all of them. There is so much more to see and learn.
LSU fans are disappointed, I was disappointed for them. It will get better and if not, then maybe coaching changes need to be made.
Alabama fans are elated, we should be, just for this one weekend. The real tests begin when the SEC matches come. None of those games will be easy.
The season will have a lot of changes and challenges. Wait it out and enjoy it when you can. It's football!

Let's be clear here : Wisconsin is a #25-35 type team. They are not an elite team and will not be this season. For your own good, don't try and talk yourself into that. They'll go 9-3 (10-2 since they beat LSU I guess) because their division is garbage, but they are no better than Iowa last year or even their own bunch last year.

LSU laid a giant egg, that's it. We'll see if it's a blip or who they are in the coming weeks, but Wisconsin ain't going to prove to be Ohio State or Alabama.

My point was 3/4 of the league looked like garbage, they just did it against Vandy, Appy St, La Tech, UMass, etc. If theyd played that way in the same situation LSU had, they would have lost too.

The fact that you actually had to explain this is scary.

I'm going to guess 98% of the posters who responded to the OP didn't read anything but the title
