UF likely starts out 4-1, going by the odds.

I seriously doubt UF is 5-0 given the first 5 games, but they will certainly be 4-1 unless there is some kind of complete disaster.

The next three games then will determine if UF is a threat, back to back at home vs LSU and Mizzou, and then a bye and then UGA in jax.

The schedule sets up very well for Florida.

Take away Clemson game from two years ago and some mop up duties
Well too bad you can't do that, huh? Okay, what if we took out his Mizzou start and all his ints and bad throws? Oh shite he's so good now!

Or we could take out Mauk's stats against UK and Tennessee and say the same thing you said about Thompson,

this dude has done absolutely nothing. In two starts he was given last year he was mediocre to bad at best.

The Williams-Brice Factor: it has been known to intimidate UGA teams in the past, and last time they were there, they were embarrassed in monumental proportions. That UGA team was averaging at 50 pts per gm on the season heading into that game: they score 7 against USC...

Ummmm..... if stadium is an issue, then SCAR might as well just write off the Florida game- I mean in you have literally one win in the Swamp.....in history.

Many Gamecock fans consider Florida our 2nd toughest game (behind @ Auburn) fwiw. Not really sure what your point is. Williams-Brice is now a very tough place to play, just as the Swamp is a very tough place for us to play, always has been.

Since I have a group of SCAR fans here, the Florida moderator on 24-7 said you guys ran a poll last season and you preferred winning the Clemson game over the SEC East by a 4 to 1 margin what's up with that don't you guys dominate Clemson? I asked my father (a Cock alum from the George Rogers era-- he played for the school but the other kind of football) and he didn't understand it either but he lives in Texas, are Clemson fans just insufferable on the ground in the state to the point where even winning like the 6th of 7 or whatever is more important than having a shot to win the SEC as a whole?

No absolutely not. Only dumb fans would rather beat their OOC rival than win their division or especially conference. That's all message board banter. I would take a blowout loss to Clemson every year if it meant we could win the conference.

Thankfully right now we're in position to do both. There was a thread on here earlier today about this exact topic because Spurrier said something about it.

You mean like Gurley did last year?

Oh. Wait.

You mean like Douglas did last year?

It is about efficiency on the ground in those money situations. And it is the difference between a good team and elite team.

Hey, you shut your mouth and shut it real good.

Very reasonable. In fact, I would be shocked if they aren't 4-1.

I t gets interesting when you get LSU, Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida State.

Don't get me wrong. I am one that thinks Florida will be greatly improved. In fact, it would not surprise me to see you win 3 out of 5 of those last games I mentioned. If you get the breaks maybe more. Your schedule is just so brutal, though!

Ok. he said that Chubb and Michel might misplace their helmets. What was the point? That your middle defense is tough? It didn't scare Gurley and Marshall last year. Why would it scare Chubb and Michel this year? With all of our 5* bruising RB's coming at them, maybe it will be the center of your "D" that forgets their helmets?

All of this is easy to say. And let's face it...all of this talk is homerism on all of our parts. yes, South Carolina will have an excellent defense. Yes, Georgia will have a great running attack.

But, no. Nobody knows what is going to happen.

If I had to make a wild guess, I would guess that South Carolina wins this year. But that is a guess. I would also guess that South Carolina loses a couple of other games and georgia wins the SEC East and goes to the SECCG. Again. that is only a guess. We won't know for another 4.5 months, and then we will all be wishing we were right here where we are right now. Speculating who will be best, and looking forward to another good year of football.

He said "in Columbia"... That was the point. The last time Gurley and Marshall played in Columbia they put up 76 rushing yards on 25 carries (3.04 YPC, or less than half both their season numbers) and 0 TDs. Your "Great White Hope" hasn't played in Columbia. And neither have the two new guys. So... yes. You missed his point.

That was also 2 true freshman RB's in their 2nd road game of their careers...

Make no mistake tho, WB was electric that night, y'all honored that returning soldier, was one of the 3-4 best atmospheres I've ever been in that night. Honestly it was the perfect storm. Not many, if any teams woulda beat SCe that night. Props given when due... Maybe It'll be that way again, maybe not...

IMO Spurrier's greatest philosophy since he has gotten here has been "if you have a good enough team to compete for the SEC title, beating Clemson will be a part of that".

We may have not won a title, but a few years after him saying that we sure have beaten Clemson.

Also, I would MUCH rather win the East than beat Clemson.

And that's exactly what he meant about Chubb and Sony. It doesn't really matter though since I doubt they see the field much in our game.
