I find it amusing that Alabama wants to play bottom feeders consistently instead of top tier teams

That is how they do it. Hell, it took a court order to get them to even play at Jordan Hare and their coach demanded FBI protection to even get on the bus.

Talk about being scert...

Everything would have been fine a couple of years ago if AU had been moved to the east (AU isn't scert), but Bama was too worried about AU recruiting GA and FL and continuing to whip their arse so they bitched, moaned, and whined until everyone else was so disgusted Mizzou would up in the east instead.

The funny thing is, you were probably one of the guys who went on about being 'Aubsessed' a couple years ago.

So you've polled tiger nation to come up with that or you're basing it on some tiger droppings posts?

I'm basing it on what I've read on TigerDroppings, other message boards, and call in radio shows. Last year when the SEC ADs were meeting to discuss the future schedules, 8 out of 10 LSU fans wanted nothing to do with continuing the UF game annually. Is that a scientific poll? No. But I'm going to go ahead and base my perception on it anyhow. I think if you polled the non-LSU fans on this site, their perception of LSU's displeasure with continuing the LSU/UF game would be the similar.

quote:

"Most LSU fans love the Florida game and are amused at how panicked Bama fans get when it is suggested they play someone other than TN which can rarely qualify to hold Florida's jock."

If they love the UF game being annual so much, then why do they gripe and complain about it so much?

And Bama fans'desire to continue the TSIO game has nothing to do with UT being down as of late (and it is only recently that they've been down BTW), it's because it is a passionate rivalry that we value, and that has been cultivated over many decades. UT fans want to continue it just as much, and yet Bama is the top football program right now. But I can understand why you don't get it, seeing as LSU doesn't have the same time of rivalries.

See how that works.

No...Wait a minute, see how what works?

I find this amusing! A few fans on an LSU website make a comment and all of a sudden it becomes most LSU fans. This is utter garbage. Every LSU fan I know likes having to play Florida annually

Last year, when future scheduling was being discussed, it was far more than a few fans on a website that was griping and moaning about it. Heck, even the LSU HC, AD & President tried everything they could to get out of it (and was pretty public about it). And before anyone says to provide a link, here: LINK

Dont even have to click the link! Most fans reamed the AD out.
And as far as I remember their bitch was not to end the series but to make it not count in the SEC divisional standings

That was Spurrier's crusade because USCe had a harder SECW schedule than UGA, but had a better SECE record (including the HTH win). Miles may have said that he was ok with it. But Mile was also in favor of eliminating the permanent rivals all together. Here is a quote by him:
quote:

"I think most of the coaches would be in favor of eliminating an arbitrary permanent rival," Miles said to a group of reporters at the Hilton Sandestin Beach resort hotel early Wednesday afternoon.

LSU's AD and President were very vocal about ending all of the permanent rivals because they felt that it wasn't fair for schools like MSU to play UK while LSU had to play UF (which btw, UF's president was saying just the opposite). Heck, LSU was one of only 3 schools that voted against the permanent rivals (aTm & USCe being the others).

Either way, 90 percent of the fans like the game. To say most fans don't want the matchup is still a false and inaccurate statement.

North pod: arky, mizzou, kentucky, and vandy. South pod: A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, & MSU. Central pod: Bama, auburn, UT, & UGA. East pod UF, USCe, plus the two new guys from the east.

LSU in a BIGXII pod can go frick itself. When the SEC really does jump the shark and go to 16 and pods, LSU had damn well better stay with the Miss schools.

This. I would like to still play Florida every year too.

The bitching had more to do with Bama then Florida.

If Bama didn't want au to go to the east (which there is no proof that was the case), it wasn't about au's recruiting. It would've been about losing the TSIO game.

Uh...no it didn't. It had to do with LSU feeling that it wasn't fair that they had to play UF, while teams like MSU & Ole Miss played UK & Vandy. Or are you implying that those quotes were in some way a vailed protest against Bama?

Maybe I'm giving LSU folks too much credit in assuming that 1.) they aren't short sighted enough to overlook the fact that UT is still a top 3 program in the East if they ever can get their crap back together, and 2.) that they aren't totally obsessed with Bama.

I haven't heard UF folks complain about playing LSU. Nor have I heard them say it isn't fair that they have to play LSU, while UGA gets to play au.

The reason Bama plays UT has nothing to do with the fact that UT is currently down (which is only a recent event). It is because it is a passionate rivalry that has been built upon for many, many decades. The same goes for UGA/au. This is the obvious reason for it, and has been explained countless times, yet people just don't seem to understand it.

AL/TN basically put the SEC on the map.

Edit: The Auburn/GA game is way overrated though.
