he also has Sumlin, Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly, Coach K, Jim Mora, Tommy Tuberville, Shaka Smart, Tom Crean, James Franklin, Brian Kelly, Phil Fulmer, Houston Nutt, among countless others.

Couldn't you say the same thing after the last couple of seasons? A&M seems to be good at fast starts and then crawl to the finish line.

Sumlin is our second best coach of alltime if you count wins up until this point.

Sumlin's problem is he has trouble living up to the 2012 legacy. If that never happened (say we got 10 wins that year no heisman) and he was only making 4 million-ish a year then his seat isn't nearly as hot.

When it was last renewed, they put a 'not to exceed' cap on it. I thought it was $24 million but that $23.3 number is probably right.
Ah, wasn't aware of that. That would make sense, he still has the security of the long-term deal even though it's unlikely he sticks around til 2021.

No matter, like I said he's not ever going to have as bad a run that would make the school consider running him off.

Most likely scenario will be, when Ms. Terry makes the call, he walks away with a huge thank-you bonus (maybe as high as $24 million, paid out over a few years). He deserves it.

I just hope it's soon.

Sumlin's buyout is $15 million. However, if he leaves for the NFL, his new team has no penalty after 2016.

Sexton screwed tFlagship out of so much money for Nutt it's not even funny. Every year you'd hear Nutt's name laughably thrown around for some job, which was an obvious plant by Sexton, and we'd stupidly extend his contract like he was some hot commodity we couldn't let go of.

That's the same scenario that was used when Miles name came up for the Arky job.

I still don't understand why schools continue to go after his clients. AU has been screwed over by Sexton multiple times, and we still keep hiring his boys (or trying to).

The real bullshite is when the same agent represents a coach and the AD while they are negotiating a contract.

It's a situation that reared its ugly head at Memphis when Josh Pastner got a grotesque extension back in 2013. Memphis fans were assured there was no conflict of interest, but I don't see how there could not have been.

Sexton is notorious for that. He's always floating coaches names out there to get them (and himself) raises. He's extremely good at his job, even if the perception of his tactics is less than admirable

Sexton saved Miles from getting fired last season with his buyout money. Less owes him for that one.

false. Miles is not represented by Sexton. Miles' agent is George Bass

TODAY IS SEPTEMBER 21, 2016...

Given how the team has looked, it's highly doubtful that we'll need to get rid of him after this season.

Hey McElroy, given how A&M has looked in Sept/Oct the past 3 seasons with all their early Heisman front runners, it's highly doubtful you can accurately predict how the season will turn out for the Aggies. BTW, I do hope Sumlin is retained at A&M.

Just curious...do you think Sumlin is your guy for the next 5 years? I mean A&M could go after pretty much anyone.

Except it's been a bait-and-switch operation with AU the last couple of times out.

In 2008, we approached Sexton about Spurrier and Muschamp (when he was still HC-in-waiting at Texas) and got Chiz. Four years later we courted Jimbo and Kirby Smart and got Gustav. It could have been worse, both times it was rumored that he was trying push Nutt onto us.

I posted this the other day, and it never gets old: Tuberville to Arky
