It would be an honor way his reply and it was the classiest sentence uttered by a human being.

Les Miles is an awesome dude, I agree.

Only an LSU fan would include Tuberville on a list with Petrino and Kiffin.

Wait, are you saying Tuberville is not a classless piece of shite?

Bryant was awesome. He did have class.

The current fellow coaching Alabama could take a lesson or two from Coach Bryant.

I liked Les Miles as a coach and a character, but that was the moment when I considered him one of the classiest men in sports...and I still do. Success may be measured by championships, but when it comes to character, Les Miles is second to nobody.

Funny you started this thread and mentioned Coach Bryant. He was the greatest of all time, and Nick Saban is right there. But the coach I will always love the most at Alabama is Gene Stallings, for that very reason. I have never seen a coach anywhere that handled himself with more class. Bebes Stallings may not be the greatest or have the most championships, but he's my favorite.

I have the utmost respect for Gene Stallings and this is coming from a Vol fan. Great man and coach.

not even top ten

his record speaks for itself and no doubt he was "nothing but a winner", but that's just it...that's all he was. He didn't innovate or change the game.

Paul Brown, Bill Walsh, Knute Rockne...these are the best football coaches of all time.

Bryant is probably the greatest winner that has happened to be a football coach....at least in college. Two different things.

You know what is funny, if you are just talking about the coach who publicly respects his opponents and talks them up the most then the evil devil Nick Saban would be near the top

I would agree that Saban typically shows class when he's in a public setting.

The problem is all the behind the scenes stuff like trying to manipulate the rules committee under the guise of "player safety" when we all know its utter BS.

Bear Bryant, hands down. He could win good and clean and not be a dick to others

The SOB single-handedly laid the status for cheating in modern CFB.

Want to know why that 'stickler for the rules' Charlie McClendon couldn't beat the Bear?

John Heisman, Auburn. Got a little trophy named after him.

My favorite quote:

"Gentlemen, it is better to have died as a small boy than to fumble this football."

What were the excuses for the other 2 losses he averaged every season?

Tuberville has done pretty much 3 arguably classless things:

1) Leaving TT. It was ill advised, admittedly. TT also treated him like total shite, so nobody should shed tears over it.

2) Leaving Ole Miss. Nothing happened here that really exceeds hundreds of other departures where the coach promised not to leave and then left.

3) Beating LSU and smoking cigars. Day 24398 of the melt.

Tubs has a record of doing some things that are poor in taste, but he is supposed to be a really solid dude.

Rockne considered Neyland the best and told the press so.

Tuberville used the university jet for a supposed recruiting trip when it was actually a guise to stop and meet with auburn. I think it's fair to say that he handled his situation worse than the average coach who just ups and leaves.

Look at how many of the Bear's disciples (players and asst coaches who went on to coach) that got hammered by the NCAA. Where the hell do you think they learned it from?

Not from Bear. Otherwise, they wouldn't have gotten caught.
