Bear Bryant, hands down. He could win good and clean and not be a dick to others.

If you were going to edit such a stupid post, why not just get rid of the whole thing?

From the era of when men were men, Bear stood above the rest easily.

I wouldn't go that far.

He's an all time greatest cfb coach in my opinion but this is some revisionist crap.

What a fricking joke!!!

Look at how many of the Bear's disciples (players and asst coaches who went on to coach) that got hammered by the NCAA. Where the hell do you think they learned it from?

Funny you started this thread and mentioned Coach Bryant. He was the greatest of all time, and Nick Saban is right there. But the coach I will always love the most at Alabama is Gene Stallings, for that very reason. I have never seen a coach anywhere that handled himself with more class. Bebes Stallings may not be the greatest or have the most championships, but he's my favorite.

Yeah, Pat Dye for example.

You know what is funny, if you are just talking about the coach who publicly respects his opponents and talks them up the most then the evil devil Nick Saban would be near the top. Always speaks well of his opponents, always compliments then before and after the game and has gone to bat for other SEC teams and coaches multiple times in the off-season and for bowl games (see UGA getting held out of the BCS for the SEC rule in 2012).

I agree Stallings is/was very classy. Not a bad coach either.

You are either too young to remember or lived too far into GA at the time. He was a regular dick to others on his postgame film review show.

You just can't beat the old cotton mouthed Southern coaches of the 70's through the 90's for stuff like that (not to mention entertainment).

Stallings is just a great man who also happened to be a good football coach. As someone who shares religious circles with him I've never met a person who didn't say that Stallings was an even better and more humble person in private than his reputation and public persona suggested. And that is saying something.
