Still pretty early to be calling it, but Avery Johnson has to get better. Bama is underperforming right now.

i think that they will start playing better as soon as AJ realizes that sexton is not michael jordan( he good, though)

We've got the worst Coach in the league. Any other SEC coach with this talent and Bama would be a 5 or 6 seed this year.

Thank God for Arkansas that Cougar High isn’t in this league.

I'd rather him start believing Sexton is Jordan, instead of believing his son is.

Avery still has a chance to turn things around, but no reason for us to be struggling with our backcourt and Hall. Terrible fundamentals all around on this team.

Serious Q., why does Avery Johnson Jr. play so damn much? You have Sexton and Ingram to run the point, he should never touch the floor except in blowouts. His son is awful.

That being said, outside of Hall and Sexton, the rest of the team looks average to bad. The next highest PER outside of those 2 is Ingram at 14.3 which indicates average overall play. Somehow Ingram has clearly gotten worse from last season.

I feel like I've seen Avery Jr get hot once or twice and that's all it has taken for his dad to validate playing him.

Went to the game in NOLA. We have major issues and will take shite on this board for it. Until TJ Washington learns to play like a beast and Green learns to keep his man in front of him while on D, we are going to struggle to be a 7-8 seed in the NCAAs.

The SEC better get theirs this year, because next year, we’re going in dry.

Youth is the great equalizer for talent. When you play that many freshman poor defense and reverting to AAU ball when things are tight should be expected. Coach Cal doesn't get near as much credit as he should for being able to coach those things out of his teams but even for him it takes a while. For most it usually doesn't happen until they become sophomores.

ETA: Imo Alabama will be a much better team next year even without Sexton.

100% agree. His teams play solid team defense and roles on offense immediately. It's pretty incredible.

Ive been pretty disappointed with Avery this season. He isn't going to last but another year or two at his current pace.

This team reminds me of the team you guys had a few years ago. Enough talent to put it together and beat a really good team, but most nights just can't find the rhythm.

Will be interesting to see how Cal progresses this team as the season moves on.
