And I thought the publicist were crazy for having us dead last. I thought we might could finish anywhere from 9-12 in the league after the way we finished last year. Boy I was wrong.

Y'all need to get on that OOC next year, no way you can make the NCAAT with where your RPI and non-con RPI is with how bad the SEC is.

I don't really care about glorified exhibition games that my team isn't playing in, but if you want to watch that oh-so-interesting Maryland-Stanford game, it's your funeral.

They could still make it. Beating Iowa State on a neutral court and going 11-7 or better would get them in imo.

Beating Iowa State

Well sure, you may as well add beating Kentucky as both are about as likely.

Their RPI is 89 and noncon RPI is 160ish, just extremely unlikely.

It's December... RPI is meaningless right now. Go 20-10 and their RPI will be good enough.

Not sure why you think South Carolina beating Iowa State is impossible. Sagarin actually has South Carolina as the favorite. Bama gave Iowa State a really good game and had a chance to win late (free throws extended the lead a bit). They're not unbeatable.

Completely disagree, it's extremely meaningful. There aren't enough quality RPI SEC teams to make much up ground in the RPI at all if you buried before SEC play even begins.

If this was the same ISU team as game THREE, they'd have about a 15% chance. But it's not, and ISU is a top 10 final four caliber team and will beat SC by double digits.

I know we got some real stinkers in there but we've played Baylor, Ok. State, Clemson, and we got Iowa St. coming up. Not the toughest OOC schedule in the world but respectable.

Only lost to Baylor by a couple. Hammered Ok.State to give the Cowboys their first loss of the year and beat Clemson who had already beaten like 2 or 3 SEC teams.

I don't expect us to make it to the NCAA tourny this year, would be disappointed if we didn't get the NIT though (which is a marketed improvement). Hopefully we'll get the big dance in the following year or so.

Yeah but the thing with RPI/SOS is how bad are the bad teams you play? Even with those couple of decent games, South Carolina is 11th in the SEC in non conference RPI and 163 nationally.

It's so hard to make up ground in the RPI because of how awful in the RPI the SEC is.

Frank actually killed the name in '13, but the group just went underground and became a covert sleeper cell of gamecock basketball faithful. They are just waiting for the signal.

That was a month ago...

They're really good, but not unbeatable, especially if they're playing a team that has enough athleticism to limit their open looks from three. South Carolina's perimeter defense is probably the best in the conference outside of UK's. I'd be surprised if Iowa State runs them out of the building.

The RPI means nothing right now. Nothing. Not enough data. It'll change incredibly before March.

Ever heard of RPIforecast? It's a pretty awesome site. It predicts that if South Carolina finishes 20-10, it'd be 38th in the RPI. That's either beating Iowa State and going 11-7 or losing to Iowa State and going 12-6, both of which are within reason based on how this USC team has played lately.

Right, now they have their best player eligible.

And no to rpiforecast, pointless to try and predict anything much less how a team will do in conference play.

I would guess SC would be at or right around .500 in SEC play best case a game or two above. And I haven't looked at their schedule to see who they play and where.

Um... Who is eligible now that didn't play against Alabama?

You're full of shite.
