Same as basketball. Pressure to win is greater because you can be one and done. The point being if one of the top two or three teams loses early, it will not hurt them. Mid-seed teams can help themselves without killing their pitching. Lower seeds have the opportunity to win it in four games. Difficult but no unrealistic to do so. This is more fan friendly as you will have 13 games over 5 days as opposed to now which is 17 games over 6 days and potentially a team may have to play 6 games to win it. Totally ridiculous.

I know the point is to win it but we also want to have our teams prepared for regional play not exhausted before they ever get there.

I agree. We want to set up teams for regionals so playing only one game on a Tuesday so you may not even throw a single weekend pitcher before regionals is pretty terrible way of doing things.

I'd also argue that more games over more days = more fan friendly.

Autozone park is the best place to have the tournament. plenty of parking, hotels, and food... and plenty of homeless people to mess with those that don't know how to avoid them. The city does a pretty good job hosting large events... like NCAA tournaments, NBA playoff games, and World Championship BBQ festivals. It would also piss off all the old people and that is my ultimate goal in life. To piss off everyone that is 60 and above.

Should be at Regions Field, downtown Bham. The Baron's new place. Nice.

The only issue with Regions Field is parking would be a nightmare and the tailgating scene would essentially be nonexistent. As far the venue goes, it's by far the best option.

My pick personal would be Constellation in Sugar Land or MMP, but realistically I think First Tennessee Park would be a great option.

Isn't there a nice stadium in Pensacola? That would be cool.

But I digress, Region's Field is where it needs to be.

If they leave at Hoover, that is fine.
I am also good with each team getting to host as well. They could have the choice of bring on campus or a regional stadium i. e.
FL- JAX Baseball Grounds
AUB-MGM Riverwalk Park
LSU-MSY Shrine on Airline
ARK- LIT Dickey Stephens Park
UK-SDF Louisville Slugger Field
Vandy-BNA First Tenn. Park
UT- Smokies Stadium in Sevierville
USC-CAE Spirit Comm park
A&M-HOU Minute Maid Park
Bama-BHM Regions or Hoover
OM-MEM Autozone Park
MO-STL- Busch Stadium
UGA-ATL-SunTrust Park
MS-JAN-Trustmark Park

That would give it a different feel and allow fans in TX, MO, FL, KY and other far flung places a better opportunity to see the tournament every once in a while on their own backyard.

Either way is fine with me but I want to see the format changed most of all.

LSU-MSY Shrine on Airline

oh great. You get to drive down Airline, sit and watch the nastiness that is Metry-airline, go to your RV amid the cloud of fumes and pollution, lock your RV doors at night and sleep with a pistol.

Who would ever want to come spend several days in Metairie, next to Airline "drive?"

I suggest think about these "alternatives." Hoover is not in the middle of no-where.. it takes less time to get to 5-points in Birmingham than it does to get to the French Quarter from "the Shrine on Airline." And Hoover met is a nice stadium built by Michael Jordan. It is central to the conference too.

Don't understand the angst. Who is it that wants to "walk 5-minutes to 200 restaurants in Memphis?" You would get mugged on the way back to the hotel. No one walks anywhere in Memphis, or New Orleans for that matter. It seems to be just a little strange.

I said I am fine with it staying at Hoover.

If they were to rotate it some, those were some my suggestions for possible venues.

In fact, my thoughts would be to keep it in Hoover and then every 5th year, go somewhere else for one year just to shake up the scenery.

For the record, I'm not in support of Metairie hosting. It has exactly the same issues as Hoover.

Why not just 4 pods of 3 teams? You play the other 2 teams in your pod then a 4 team single Elim tourney. Everyone is guaranteed 2 games, which is more than some can say currently. Plus playing 5 games before the regionals sucks, that's a ton of pitching to go through.

As for location, the only better option I see right now is Pensacola. That stadium would be so fricking cool to tailgate around all day for a week. If my team gets booted early or if I have a bye day, I get to go to the beach. It's close enough to a metro area to make Golfer happy. A little less centrally located, but UK, Mizzou, and UT fans don't travel for baseball anyway. The ones that do will use it as a beach vacation and baseball trip.

I don't want the damned thing in Metairie, LA either. I just want it to rotate to different venues like Memphis and Nashville or even a smaller place like Pensacola. Has zero to do with Alabama/Auburn fans who never outnumber State or LSU fans in Hoover anyway.

Lol wut?

The Met opened in 1988

Michael Jordan played for the Barons in the Met in 1994-1995.

Jordan did not build the stadium

Apparently not. They were a finalist last year but didn't get it.

Jax could host it. Nice minor league stadium with lots of tail gate areas and an RV City near the River.

There's an amphitheater almost completed there and river front development has been planned.

The new stuff is in color along the river within a very short walk of the stadiums.

Jordan did not build the stadium

Good god... Of course he didn't, but the revenue he produced for the Barons and the attendance traffic, 8,000 per game, paid for the renovation and upgrade. Plus, he acquired the Jordan cruiser bus. Just in case you were not around during that season, here are some facts about Jordan's one year in the minors.. which by the way was actually pretty good...

"The Barons set a home attendance record of 467,867 at Hoover Met and pushed Southern League crowds past 2.5 million. For several years following the 1994 season, Jordan's No. 45 Barons jersey remained the Barons' most popular merchandise item.

"Jordan helped acquire a 45-foot, 34-seat bus for the Birmingham Barons to travel around the Southern League. It was estimated to have cost $350,000. The stylish vehicle featured a lounge area.

"Jordan often hung out at A.J.'s, a sports bar in Five Points South owned by former NFL running back Alonzo Highsmith. He went to movies in Hoover and at the Colonnade. He took his laundry to Mark's Quality Cleaners in Inverness. He played golf at Greystone, Shoal Creek, Country Club of Birmingham, Oxmoor Valley, Inverness and Old Overton. And he attended Sammy's, a topless club on Valley Avenue. "About half of the audience is watching the girls, the other half is watching him," said the manager, Little Sammy, in 1994."

As for this guy's contribution:

EastbankTiger - So much fail packed into just one post. Impressive

About all I can say is EastbankTiger evidently hasn't driven down Airline "drive" to the "Shrine on Airline" and watched a game. I've done it 50-100 times, driving from Old Metairie, and in NO WAY would ANYONE EVER want to attend a multi-day tournament at that locale. The surroundings make it is the ugliest site for baseball in the Southeast and it is not a safe place to be late at night either.

Lots of fail here for EastbankTiger... oh well, queston: do you actually think Airline is an attractive "drive" and the ball park locale is handsome? In that case, I can't help
