John Daly easily the GOAT white trash golfer.

I can't accept that. I lived 5 minutes away, and he was in far, FAR richer neighborhood.

this is strictly speaking on a professional level. So Tim Tebow does not qualify for this thread, as he is only the greatest college football player of all-time.

You made that entire OP just so you could slip this in at the end didn't you?

FTR that's a bad pass. Way behind the guy when he could have simply led the guy with an easy bounce pass for the dunk.

Greatest TE (in the discussion) - Ozzie Newsome

If you are going by stats, Newsome isn't even the best TE from the SEC...Witten has better pro numbers than Newsome.

Newsome (198 games played/191 starts)
662 receptions, 7,980 yards, 47 TDs

Witten (175 games played/165 starts)
879 receptions, 9,799 yards, 52 TDs.

I would put them both near the 8-10 range in all-time best NFL TE's.

The opposing player that was running in front of the receiver probably expected that and would have cut it off, though.

Always catch them off-guard.

We may have an SECr first. An LSU fan defending an Arkansas player, and the Arky fan talking the trash.

Haha, I'm not talking trash. John revels in his white trashdom, he is just so damned good at it. Well, at least he was when he wasn't even trying to be sober and was showing up to tournaments in his RV drunk off his arse.

Oh is this the part where we pick one stat out of thousands to make a moronic point? Ok ok, my turn. Most yards in a season so yes.

I would also add Pistol in as the most talented basketball player. I would not call him the best player though.
Eta: didn't read the edit, but I will still keep Pistol up there.
Extremely talented, just not really a team player, from what I have heard.

I am by no means a Pistol Pete expert, however I grew up in BR watching him play at LSU. I recall a little bit of his NBA career. To the question of him not being a team player, this is a bit of a stretch. As I recall, he was somewhat alienated by his teammates generally because of his exceptional skills and the attention it brought. Not so much because "he" was not a team player...

Pistol Pete was in a league all his on in the day in which he played. Anyone that does not recognize that simply does not know what they are talking about...

Lochte > Phelps. Medal count aside lochte is a better swimmer than Phelps. Who has the world record in both IMs? Lochte. I think he's a d-bag, poor rep for my sport, but sadly best to touch the water thus far

1. Phelps> Lochte
2. Phelps holds the 400 m IM record.
3. Lochte is better on a short course, Phelps has more records overall
4. Swimming only matters during the olympic but

In regards to baseball if Albert "Joey" Belle was not such an arse he would have been in the HOF. He was the best power hitter in the 90s by a pretty good stretch.

Some people dont seem to understand the difference between talent and skill. Pete was not especially talented. He as exceptionally skilled. Hours upon hours practicing develops skill not talent.

Pete played back in the disco era, before there was even a 3-point line. Dude wouldn't even make it in the D-League today.

Are you aware that people have gone back and looked at his college tapes and looked at what he would have scored today with a 3-point line? It'd have been something like 60 points a game. Dude could shoot from anywhere and was far beyond his years in the game.

Pistol Pete may not have been the greatest of all time but in his era he certainly was near the top. He was well ahead of his time and was a ton of fun to watch. Attached are some of his top plays. Love numbers 5,3, and 2

Wambach is the greatest SEC Soccer player but NOT goat in the sport.

that honor goes to North Carolina's Mia Hamm

Also, UGA's Courtney Kupets is widenly considered the goat college gymnasts in the sport and an Olympian.
