Somebody compare the SEC records of miles, saban, and richt so we can see what garbage this yahoo comes up with for why richt falls short without the ooc pancakes excuse.

quote:TBH, I cut-and-pasted that from an early thread about how CMR averaged 10 wins per season.
You are including bowl games in a cupcake list? By definition, if your team goes to a bowl, it's not a cupcake.
You've also got conference opponents on there. Do you even know what a cupcake is?
ETA: To make your stats completely accurate, you also need to see how many of the "cupcakes" on Bama's schedule were added after another, quality opponent backed out of a game at the last minute. Notre Dame, for example, had scheduled a home and away series with Bama that was supposed to be played in the mid 2000s and that got cancelled, same with Penn State, if memory serves.
Fact of the matter is that everyone pads their schedule, but Bama does play at least one quality, OoC opponent each year, as does LSU.
Also worthy of note that until last year, half or more of the conference opponents Bama played took a week off before the game to prepare. The only reason they don't do it still is because the SEC made them stop. How many other SEC schools play over half their conference opponents after they've had a bye week?
quote:Yes, they're often called Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Ole Miss (they're going to be good next year, though).
Do you even know what a cupcake is?
For the record, I think CMR is WONDERFUL and y'all should give him a 50-year, ironclad, unbreakable contract to, you know, lock down that talent before his name shows up when there's a coaching vacancy in the NFL or at one of those traditional powerhouses, like Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Bama, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.

Wait so first YOU say the above quoted content but then in the post right below it you mention the "cupcakes" that LSU played, when in fact many of the teams YOU listed went to bowl games that particular year. So which is it?

By definition, if your team goes to a bowl, it's not a cupcake.
New Orleans Bowl,
DVDA Compass Bowl,
Weed-Eater Bowl,
Las Vegas Bowl,
Little Caesars Pizza Bowl,
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl,
GoDaddy.com Bowl,
Meineke Car Care Bowl,
Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl,
Hawaii Bowl,
Armed Forces Bowl,
San Diego County Credit Union Bowl,
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl,
New Mexico Bowl,
Military Bowl,
Pinstripe Bowl, or
Heart of Dallas Bowl.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the "Hitta Bowl."
Here's the records of some teams that "went a bowlin'" this year:
Central Michigan Chippewas (6-6) - winners of the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl
Duke Blue Devils (6-6) - losers of the Belk Bowl
Rice Owls (6-6) - winners of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl
Iowa State Cyclones (6-6) - losers of the Autozone Liberty Bowl
Purdue Boilermakers (6-6) - losers of the Heart of Dallas Bowl
Pittsburgh Panthers (6-6) - losers of the DVDA Compass Bowl
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-7) - winners of the Hyundai Sun Bowl
I'm not knocking those teams, but this isn't 1965, when there were only six bowl games and they were a really, really big deal.
Hell, even the BCS bowls give us turkeys, mostly thanks to the Big East:
2004 Fiesta Bowl - Pittsburgh Panthers (8-3) lost to Utah (11-0)
2011 Fiesta Bowl - Connecticut Huskies (8-3) lost to Oklahoma (11-2)
2013 Orange Bowl - Northern Illinois Huskies (12–1) lost to the Florida State Seminoles (11–2)

Personally, I think it's funny as hell the way UGA fans are about CMR - they either defend him against all logic and/or reason, or they hate his guts.

Notable OOC games for UGA and Alabama going back to 2001 (including bowl games).
Alabama:
Michigan
ND
Penn State x2
Michigan St
VT
Texas
Clemson
Utah
FSU
Ok State
Texas Tech
Oklahoma x2
UCLA
UGA:
Nebraska
Boisex2
Mich St x 2
UCF
Ok Stx2
VT
WVU
Wisconsin
Clemsonx2
FSU
Alabama with 15 and UGA with 14. So even with UGA going to more bowl games since 2001, Alabama still has more high profile games.

Yep. Like I've said before, they're Mississippi State with a brief, special appearance by Herschel Walker.
To their credit, though, it was a fun campus the one time I visited. Back in my first year in grad school (22 yo), a buddy of mine from Peachtree City invited me and another buddy over for the weekend. One of the UGA gymnasts was a FWB of his and we went up to Athens to party, stay, get in trouble with her. The party was off the chain and had my other buddy been able to score some leg, the girl I found and the Peachtree City guy's girl (the gymnast) were ready for some fun in group time, so to speak. Damn, if only I knew at 18-23 what I know now, I'd be a dangerous man.

So Georgia Tech is always ranked? You listed Washington for LSU this last year but not Georgia Tech. How is that fair?

It's more of a "UGA fans starting threads about SC" and "SC fans starting threads about UGA" argument. These two (Gcockboi and deeprig) are the biggest offenders of this.
I had my fun a before the SECCG, and a couple days after, but quit because it was the same arguments over and over.

You're a fricking moron. Take out the three years from 1980-1982, pretend they didn't happen. Our history is still light years ahead of MSU's. I know you're trying to be cute and clever, but you are so off base it's not even funny.

Deeprig logic: They played in a bowl game so they aren't a cupcake.
Not sure about every year, because I don't pay attention to GT.
