The hilarious thing about this list is if a school had a basket weaving major that only required showing up to get a 4.0 for athletes (and they still pass if they don't show up) then that somehow would make them academically superior. So many ways to game this kind of ranking. It's even worse than how Baylor actually pays current students to go back and retake SAT's after they are in school to boost their numbers and OU literally goes out and pays any National Merit Scholar to go there so they can brag about that number.
That's why you have to look at schools in a broader context in terms of academics and esp at things that are very hard to manipulate. Research dollars. Entrance requirements. First year starting salaries of grads and 5 year salaries. Reputation amongst recruiters. Reputation amongst academics. Very hard to manipulate any of that and those are the things that make a school great. Honestly I think a lot of ratings they put weight in like grad rates and class size mean little in terms of real quality but they mean a lot in ratings like USN and heavily favor small private schools where everyone graduates and the challenge is getting in, not what you do when you are there.
Comparing athletes in the academic conversation for quality of school is just stupid. It's an interesting discussion but how a very small number of students that are often allowed to attend schools that they aren't remotely qualified for and whether or not the school can hold their hand enough to get them to graduate has nothing to do with the quality of the school. College athletics, esp football and basketball, is big business. It's not a bad trade off. A kid gets a free education at a good school with all the help in the world to graduate. That degree gives them access to the alumni network and will help them in life. The school gets a quality sports team and thus more publicity and money, esp in terms of alumni support. It just has nothing to do with the school's quality.
LSU folks should drink it in though, it may be your only chance to show up as a school that isn't an academic joke. In the meantime A&M needs to come up with more "jock majors" so we can win at these lists.

Look dude, Auburn will always be bama's Daddy in anything in life that means anything. It is better to just bow down and STFU than embarrass yourself in a discussion of academics between AU and bama.
Lolol
I love how Auburn alums think their school is some academic powerhouse. Your school is not respected nationally for academics (nor regionally if we're being honest), and your joke of an administration has made your degree worth less than the paper it's printed on. Deal with it.

You really believe this, don't you?

AU is just better than bama is almost every conceivable measure academic wise.
Maybe not the best in the southeast, but to compare AU to bama academically is a massive insult to both AU and AU alumni/students.

I suppose that is why I can pretty much work in any major city in the United States with my AU masters degree huh?
And I seriously doubt you have any greater than a 12th grade education.

I get a nice laugh when I see any Alabama fan trying to make fun of the strong agricultural influence that Auburn has. I am no economics major for sure but even I can see the irony in that.

And pretty much any major city internationally. Such is the footprint of McDonald's.

If you knew where I went to grad school, you'd shite your pants and stop talking.

Listen, I know you might not have gone to college, but there are such things as courses where you do not have to go to an actual class room. College is not like high school or middle school. maybe one day you will get to go to higher education as well. until then continue to make up shite to enable your delusions of yourself
auburn is certainly not like my high school...I had to actually attend class and do work.

Why on earth are AU fans in here talking shite? AU is lucky to be accredited right now.
Talk shite to some school that you actually rate better than, like Boise or something.

again, in college, there are things such as classes, where you dont go to a class room. I know this is a hard thing to understand. You might be suprised they do these sorts of classes at Bama as well. I know, shocking, right. When you step foot on campus and enroll, you will get to know these types of things

Yes, I took a remote course in logic while earning one of my Master's degrees. I understand the concept of courses which do not require physical attendance.
Now please take a moment to try and understand the concept of academic standards and legitimate evaluation of students, and stop trying this obscure dance around the fact that your school was giving credits to students without legitimate coursework.

its funny coming from you. you try to attack Auburn as well and your extreme butthurt comes out.
BTW, did you ever find that video of fairley doing a dirty hit against UGA and the trooper coming out to give him congrats? I am still waiting

You mean courses where you are assigned readings and meet with the professors on occasion, then write a paper for the final?
This happens everywhere, even Bama. Even UGA, Even GaTech, Ohio State, Kentucky, Cincinati. I know for a fact at these schools and can tell you for the most part at every university in the US.
Oh BTW, what was T. Cody's major again? maybe you can help him remember

Why the hell are folks discussing academics from meat-head FOOTBALL players anyway?
Tiger in Miami is hillarious in this thread. I think he should ask Santa for a cruise for Christmas so he can get his arse outta Miami before the damn Yankee's and Gump's hit town.
How miserable can it be for your own team to be sitting at home during bowl season, AND your biggest rival's fans are about to pack out your home town for the BCSNC game?

I'm not surprised that you don't have the mental capacity to process why it is an interesting study.
What, some guy "applies context" by providing subjective opinion/selection on criteria and weight? Abstract art could be interesting, but it's all based on the viewers perception too.
Is it your perception that Boise State is a better academic school than Stanford or Notre Dame? If so, stay high.

Auburn is not ranked in the top 25 because they had 3 wins.
