I would say LSU has had some success poaching from the state of Alabama. But Kwon is the only top 5-ish guy I can remember. Also Alabama doesn't have the HS talent that LA does, IMO.

That's not to take anything away from what LSU has done in the state of AL, as out-recruiting Bama and Auburn for an in-state kid is impressive in its own right.

Idk, they beat you head-to-head and finished higher in the standings every single one of those years

So we are LSU prior to 2000? Got it

They had some good teams under RC in the early to mid 90s, but they would go to places like Lubbock and implode.

They never seem to put it all together when people have expectations of them.

Can't argue with any of that.

Good article. One thing to note about LSU; Ducre ia a 4* FB who will get some carries. Pound for pound may be the strongest back on the team.

Sure. You could say that. Too bad you don't have Nick Saban walking through those doors to turn your program into a powerhouse.

I'm not trying to argue that Alabama is "taking over" Louisiana, but they've done really well down there in the past handful of years. They've gotten a top 10 player from LA every cycle since 2011:

2011 - Bradley Slyve
2012 - Landon Collins, Denzel Devall
2013 - Tim Williams
2014 - Cam Robinson, Hootie Jones, Cam Sims
2015 - Daylon Charlot
2016 - pending Shyheim Carter, (hopefully Rashard Lawrence)

True, but you also have to look at the number of talent coming out of La., LSU cannot sign them all.

Not all those players were "lost" to Bama.

Rumor is you guys have a LSU thread on the Aggys board bitching about LSU and how you instruct them to RA anything and everything?

Is that true?

Tons of talent in LA and nobody you have to share it with.

I've never understood this, like there is an actual wall or moat around Louisiana not allowing these kids out.

Truth is we have to share our talent with EVERYBODY, that's why it's imperative that LSU continue to be a school that will provide these recruits with everything they need to be successful at the next level.

Where there is a slight advantage to proximity, one need only to look back at the Curley years to see that kids will leave the state for better opportunities. LSU just have to make sure they represent one of those better opportunities.

I don't know about that exclusive Texas thing. Texas, like Florida, puts out more talent than the major universities can really stockpile alone, so other SEC universities -- LSU and Bama both have some prime talent from the state -- are going to swoop in and steal some big names. Interestingly, just based on my gut feeling, it feels like LSU has stolen more TAMU leans/commits and Bama has stolen more UT leans/commits. I'm sure actual statistics won't bear me out, though. Unless they do, in which case, I accept any and all accolades.

Here we are: the lurking powerhouse in the SEC. Texas A&M University

A&M has all the ingredients to be the next SEC West powerhouse

Don’t mean to be impetuous or make enemies, but Texas A&M is the largest and wealthiest school within the SEC and happens to call the richest state in the region its home. By “richest” I also mean recruiting wise. It’s not a matter of if, but when A&M rises to the top. The writing is on the wall.

1. Alabama - Saban can't coach forever with Kiffin as head coach in waiting to frick everything up. Smart will move on.
2. Auburn - You got the services of Muschamp for 1 year then he moves on to be head coach some where.
3. LSU - Miles on hot seat, program in decline.
4. I'm more scared of Arkansas, Tennessee and Georgia than anybody else.

Ok, ok, I'm not really worried about Arkansas, I just wanted to get those piggies all excited.

Truth.

Same overall record
Worse conference record
0-3

Yeah, I'm going to have to call bullshite on the "next powerhouse" talk though.
